A Stewardship Thought . . .
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” – 1 JOHN 4:15
How strong is your faith? When you have an oppor-tunity to either defend or clarify a question about our Catholic faith, do you do it? Or, do you remain silent so that others don’t think you are weird? Pray for the cour-age to be strong in all circumstances and to share your witness with others.

A Mother’s Day Prayer
All-loving God, we give you thanks and praise for mothers young and old. We pray for young mothers, who give life
and count toes and tend to our every need; May they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy. We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us; May they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways.
We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty, or conflict; May they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes every tear away.
We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion. We remember mothers. grandmothers, and great-grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Our next general meeting will be on Monday 5/21 at 7:30 pm in MDH. Note this is the 3rd Monday of the month rather than our usual 4th Monday. If you’ve ever considered becoming active with helping the poor of our community why not join us? New members are always welcome.
We are always looking for new ways to help those in need. Besides direct client assistance and the food pantry, we do back-to-school supplies, Christmas gifts, Easter baskets, and a Coat & Blanket drive. If you have any ideas for new ways we can accomplish our mission of bringing God’s love to those who are poor and suffering we’d love to hear from you. Contact us through our voice mailbox at the parish office (732) 257-0077.
The SSVdP at OLV has a very active food pantry. It used to be that 65-80 families a month was considered busy. Now it’s the norm. Through your generosity we help many low income families with much needed gro-ceries. Could you please help us by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries? We gratefully ac-cept all non-perishable food items however presently we’re running very low on the following: pasta sauces, cereals, canned or packaged fruit, Chef Boyardee type canned pastas, canned tuna and meats, instant mac & cheese, toiletries such as bathroom tissue and tooth-paste, shampoo. Donations can be left in the church lobby after any mass. Thanks !
Thank You The Ordination Anniversary Committee would like to heartily thank all those who gave of their time, talent, or treasure to make Father Ryan's celebration such a big success. We appreciate all the hard work, dedication, and outpouring of love to our beloved pastor. We were overwhelmed by the number of parishioners who at-tended. The tributes to Father were heartwarming and reflected on the true attributes of our pastor. Thank you again for all that you did to make the evening so memorable.

No orders will be taken after May 27th. Payments are due for all trips. Food donations will be taken for the St. Vincent DePaul pantry. For further information contact Teri at 732-727-7639.

The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death.
In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
