ARE YOU A “REGISTERED” PARISHIONER?

Many people feel that because they live in our parish area and attend Our Lady’s every week, that they are

“registered”. Being registered does not mean you have to receive envelopes, it simply means we have your name

and address in our database showing you are a registered parishioner and kept up with the daily happenings of your

parish community. If you think you are registered, but not sure, call Sharon in the parish office to confirm.

EASTER COLLECTION

At Easter, we honor and celebrate our priests. The

Clergy Health and Retirement Trust helps care for the

health and well-being of our 628 priests, ensuring an

appropriate level of care and quality of life for the men

who have dedicated their lives in service to our

Archdiocese of Boston. Remember the priests who

were there for you and your loved ones in times of

need, and consider honoring them with a generous gift.

Thank you in advance for helping to ensure the

continuing care for all our priests.

OUR LADY’S ACADEMY NEWS

PRE-K4B NEWS

The children in Pre-K4B have spent the past few weeks studying weather and Mother Nature has given us

wonderful weather this winter for our current topic…Snow! The children have shared with the teachers many stories

about building snowmen, making snow angels, going skiing and having fun in the snow.

Speaking of weather did you know that you can make a scarf into a snowball, pretend to be a snowman, skate

with paper plates and make rain sounds with your hands? In Pre-K 4B when we study weather we not only learn

about it, we experience it through music, movement and science experiments. We have had a lot of fun learning

about rain and the water cycle. Reading the books Drippy the Raindrop, To the Mountains and Back (an on-line

book) by Joel Kimball and Where Do Puddles Go? By Faye Robinson were wonderful introductions to the water

cycle. Since Pre-K children learn through hands-on activities, cotton balls and pans of water became clouds

absorbing moisture. A glass jar and a cup of ice helped us to create precipitation/rain in our classroom and two wet

gloves and a plastic container were used to help explain the concept of evaporation.

The book Umbrella by Taro Yashima was the inspiration for not only our umbrella math activity, but also an

experiment on the absorbency of materials. Stop by the bulletin board in our classroom and you will see beautifully

creative math umbrellas. First the children cut-out their own umbrellas. Then they traced and cut-out many different

triangles, squares and rectangles to decorate their umbrellas. The last steps were to count their shapes, write the

number and then add glittery raindrops.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

This past weekend 12 Our Lady's students participated in a weekend-long middle school retreat called Snow CAMPS

(Christ As My Personal Savior) along with 130 other students from around the Archdiocese. It was a fun, and

energetic weekend full of games, singing, dancing, prayer, and growing in our Catholic faith by getting to know Jesus

better. The students were Rohan Curtin, Molly DeAcetis, Julia Hourihan, Brandon Huynh, Martin Lentz, Brendan

Meehan, Jamie Mills, Jen Mills, Jordan Mills, Gracie O'Callaghan, Flavia Talerico, and Caroline Whitney. We

would also like to say a special thank you to the Knights of Columbus for their generous contribution towards the

retreat as well as to the parents who volunteered to drive carpools to get the students to and from the bus-stop.

CATECHISM CORNER

The Virtues and Grace

Acquired human virtues are purified and elevated by

divine grace. With God’s help, they forge character and

give facility in the practice of the good. The virtuous

man is happy to practice them. It is not easy for man,

wounded by sin, to maintain moral balance. Christ’s gift

of salvation offers us the grace necessary to persevere in

the pursuit of the virtues. Everyone should always ask

for this grace of light and strength, frequent the

sacraments, cooperate with the Holy Spirit and follow

his calls to love what is good and shun evil.

The Theological Virtues

The human virtues are rooted in the theological virtues

of faith, hope and charity. They adopt man’s faculties

for participation in the divine nature: for the theological

virtues relate directly to God. They dispose Christians to

live in a relationship with the Holy Trinity and are the

foundation of Christian moral activity; they animate it

and give it its special character.
