MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER:

Dear parents/carers

This week has been wet and windy but we have not let it dampen spirits or learning. The school as always is buzzing with activities. The sale of the hearts that year 6 made as part of their positivity project went well. Keep your eyes peeled for these around the school and/or village.

Today in celebration assembly we awarded our new House Captains and Games Captains with their badges and new responsibilities for the year ahead. Congratulations to them all, we know you will be wonderful leaders!

Next Monday at 9:30am is our Harvest Festival. Please don’t forget to donate tinned/ packet food for the food bank, we are collecting these at school. We hope you will join us in the Church for our first whole school gathering.

Next Thursday is the PTA coffee morning, at 9am in the Community Room. This can be accessed through the upper playground and round the building. It will be an informal chat over coffee whilst we talk about the year ahead and would welcome old (to the school) parents, as well as new parents. I hope to see you there.

Have a lovely weekend.

#HelloYellow event next Friday: On Sunday 10th October, it is World Mental Health Day. In order to raise awareness for this very important cause, we are going to be taking part in the YoungMinds #HelloYellow fundraising event on Friday 8th October. For a donation of £1, the children are invited to wear an item of yellow alongside their school uniform. The children will also be completing other activities in their classrooms to raise awareness and spread the word that, whatever you’re going through, you can talk to someone if you’re struggling to cope.

Second Hand Uniform on Facebook! A second hand uniform page on Facebook has been set up by one of our parents. It’s called Hildenborough Primary Second Hand Uniform Page. They are passing on quality items for free as a means to help our school community, save money and do our bit for the planet!

Hildenborough Litter Pick! Spotted on Facebook: “This Saturday (2nd October) is Hildenborough’s Village litter pick. We meet at Westwood and the Rec, 10am til noon, we have routes that cover the whole village. We have equipment to borrow, but do bring your own if you have it. Our hugely popular ‘litter bugs’ will be back. Last month 40 people came and helped make Hildenborough a great place to live! If you can spare 30 minutes and collect half a bag, you are helping. Visit Hildenborough Litter Pickers on Facebook for more info”.

Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys We are preparing to welcome prospective parents and students (Year 5 and 6 ONLY) to our Open Evening on Thursday, 7th October between 16:00 and 19:00. As we are expecting a large number of guests, we request that there be a maximum of 3 guests per family. Masks will be compulsory inside buildings (except for those with a medical exemption), so please come with a mask. In light of the rising number of cases in the town, we would very much appreciate guests taking a COVID-19 lateral flow test before attending Open Evening. Please do not attend if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Due to current building works, there is very limited parking on site. Please use Yew Tree Road (Southborough) and John Street (St Johns) car parks and local roads. Thank you for parking respectfully in the neighbourhood.
