Oscar Jacobson is ready for a new season with a lot of new and fantastic garments. But before you start to dive in to all the exiting garments do I want to say some words about our heritage and our common biggest challenge, our environment…

If you’re a Swede you’re an environmentalist from birth. Here we live 22 people per square kilometers and for every one of us we have the nature around the corner. And we mean real nature, not just a park with trees.

So, it’s very natural for us at Oscar Jacobson to care about the environment. For instance do we try to source fabrics in the same country as we produce the garments, we also constantly search for new and sustainable fabrics. And regarding the fact that when

we first started, in 1903, we were tailoring and crafting our clothes in a very modern and environmental friendly manner, we are just keeping up the tradition.

Another very important part for Oscar Jacobson is our quality, because god quality in fabrics and in tailoring makes a garment you wear in many years. Hopefully the next generation can find this quality garments in a secondhand shop somewhere in the world, for us this is the ultimate sign of environmentalism.

CONTENT

We are a company committed to finding more environmentally friendly ways of producing our collections. It is a responsibility we take quite seriously. And we have found two ways to cut down on clothing production’s worst offenders – the use of harmful chemi-cals and the overuse of energy and water.

Fluorocarbons (FC) are chemicals that give garments many useful features, like water repellency, and resistance to grease and dirt. But this harsh and toxic chemical degrades slowly in nature, if at all. It is carcinogenic and can affect animals and humans if it is stored in the body, impeding reproductive function.

Oscar Jacobson has removed all FC’s from its base and mid layers, using only C6 hydrocarbons that are much gentler. And our shell garments are free of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), one of the nastiest chemicals used for water repellency. Times are changing, and our goal is to have FC-free garments.

We have also adopted a smart, yarn-dyeing method that saves both water and energy. Traditional yarn-dyeing methods include extra steps for rinsing and drying, while ’spin yarn dyed’ is a new yarn colouration process in which the pigment is added to the melted polymer before the fibre is extruded into yarn. The colour, therefore, is an inherent part of the yarn itself, making colours stronger and garments less prone to fading from washing or sunlight.

Eco Focus – Fc-Free and Spin Yarn Dye


SPIN YARN DYEThis eco-friendly fabric has long-lasting colour fastness due to the fact that dye is applied directly to the fibre instead of at a later stage. The dyeing process consumes 90% less water than regular dyeing. It also has UVA and UVB protection.

CARBON FREEAll our shell garments are free of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), one of the nastiest chemicals used for waterproofing.

Having the right clothes lends itself to a better game. At least that’s our opinion. And lightweight layering on the course is key.

Our new Mulligan Jacket is made of a thin, lightweight fabric that retains warmth without adding bulk – a necessity when swinging the club. The jacket’s lining is PrimaLoft – a superior insulating material that is warm, dry and soft. The fine fibres are densely packed to retain heat and resist whipping winds, while remaining breathable and quick drying.

It is a jacket made for flexibility and comfort. Wear the ultra-light and water resistant nylon jacket under a waterproof jacket when the elements aren’t cooperating or by itself to make a day on the links that much more enjoyable.

The Oscar Jacobson Weather Protection System (WPS) was developed for the avid golfer – the one who cares about looking good and doesn’t want to sacrifice comfort or mobility. WPS helps to optimize your game, weather you’re playing a round under a blazing Mediterranean sun or in a Scottish rain just a few degrees above freezing.

This thermal insulation material outperforms all other competitive synthetic insulation materials because it is better at sealing in your body heat in both wet and dry conditions.

BASE LAYERThe base layer is light and breathable, wicking moisture away from the body and regulating temperature. This comfortable collection includes our shirts, shorts and underwear.

MID LAYERThe mid layer is the one that keeps you warm and comfortable from head to toe. It helps retain body heat, while wicking away moisture. In fabrics like merino wool and fleece, these garments go over the base layer on dry but cool and crisp days.

OUTER LAYERThe outer layer provides ultra-light protection for golfers. These garments are made of three layers – a stretchy, functional fabric on the outside that ensures flexibility, and a soft, comfortable lining. The outer layers are wind and waterproof, fast drying and, most importantly, easy to pack and carry in a golf bag. And a longer back hem offers that little bit of extra protection when you lean forward to swing the club.

Taking place at the beautiful Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen in southern China, the Volvo China Open will welcome the world’s best golfers just two weeks after the illustrious Masters’ tournament at Augusta National.

OSCAR JACOBSON LAUNCHES NEW LINE OF GOLF SHOESApplying our expertise and passion for stylish and functional golf wear, Oscar Jacobson will launch a new line of golf shoes in spring 2015 with Lottusse, the storied Spanish shoemaker on the island of Mallorca. Lottusse, a family-owned and operated company, has been crafting leather shoes of the highest quality for more than 130 years. The limited line of golf shoes will be manufactured in Mallorca with a new type of fitting that is incredibly light and flexible on the course.

EDMUND SUIT Edmund is one of fall’s sharpest and versatile suits from Oscar Jacobson. It can be dressed up or worn casual with a denim shirt and boots. The fit has been tailored to suit a range of men, and they can mix-and-match to combine jacket and pant sizes for a perfect fit.The Edmund jacket has a tighter fit that makes the garment feel both timeless and modern. NEW SARTORIAL LEISURE STORE OPENS IN GOTHENBURG, SWEDENSartorial Leisure, Oscar Jacobson’s sub-brand all about tailored leisure, will be opening its first standalone store in late February 2014. The Gothenburg, Sweden store will offer the largest range of Sartorial Leisure garments in a cosy space in one of the city’s best neighbourhoods. Expect nothing less than world-class service and an inspiring environment for the eyes and ears when it opens on Vallgatan 19.

LORO PIANA STORM SYSTEM This season’s Sting overcoat is produced in collaboration with the prestigious Loro Piana weaving mill, which produces some of the world’s most exclusive fabrics. The coat – available in navy, black and chocolate brown – is a great example of a tailored and technologically functional garment. It is breathable and temperature regulating but with a timeless and tailored silhouette. The outer material is made of a wind and water-proof wool and cashmere blend particular to Loro Piana, a family-run mill with a prestigious and long history.

TRAVEL BAG Our new travel bag has all of the practicality you would expect and a timeless style. It is made of Italian vegetable- tanned leather with a metal frame that makes packing easy. Zippered pockets on the inside and out keep items accessible, while a leather strap keeps the top handles secured together. It also includes an adjustable leather shoulder strap, and protective metal feet on the bottom.

OSCAR JACOBSON AT THE PGA GOLF SHOW IN THE U.S. Oscar Jacobson will be travelling to the annual PGA Golf Show in Orlando, Florida to show off our winter, autumn and spring 2014 golf collection. The show attracts more than 40,000 industry leaders, manufacturers,

professionals and retailers over a week in January to celebrate all things golf. There has been a high demand for Oscar Jacobson Golf collections in the U.S., and the show is a unique opportunity to establish and distribute the brand in one of the world’s largest markets.

The OJ design team loves to play golf in the autumn. The courses are not as crowded as they are in the summer, the scenery is beautiful and the game tends to be more solid than in the spring.

This season we have focused a lot on our new wind- and water program, which is a crucial part of autumn golf. We have selected high performing fabrics in four-way stretch for optimal comfort and performance, equally suitable for the golf course as a day in the city.

For the colder days we recommend garments from our Primaloft® program. Wear these as an outer layer or mid layer underneath a waterproof jacket if it’s raining.
