Zebra™ 3D Pressure Mapping System

How can the process for designing a custom orthotic be improved? How can the pressure of a brace be better adjusted? How can more precise pressure mapping (i.e. determining the distribution and degree of pressure across multiple locations) of complex 3D dimensions be measured? How can clinical improved outcomes be document? How can recommended orthotic devices and reimbursements be better justified? Can a process be developed that is practical for clinical usage in terms of information value, ease of use and cost?

The launch of our Zebra™ 3D Pressure Mapping Sensor System in September 2010 provides Certified Orthotists and orthopedic physicians an effective way of measuring pressure in single point locations or multiple points (pressure mapping).

The process for prosthetic check socket measurement requires thermoforming our Zebra™ sensors. However, many orthotic applications such as braces have only one curvature. In these cases Zebra™ sensors can be cut to size and simply flex to fit the surface to be measured.

Each Zebra™ System is an out-of-the-box product that allows the user to start using the system after a quick setup. Each system contains the items listed to the left, as well as, optional accessories that can be added on.

The Zebra™ system is designed for many applications. To the right we have diagramed the use for measure pressure differences in orthotics. A sheet is thermoformed and placed into an orthotic device. After placement, the sheet is connected via our quick connect clips, which leads to our DAS that wirelessly transmits data, real time, to the Zebra™ laptop computer.
