WELCOME PRESENTED BY SITANSHU SHUKLA CLASS 10TH A

Everyone loves vacation time, so do I. And these winter vacations I enjoyed myself to the fullest. This vacation time, me and my family members decided to go on a tour to ORRISSA. It was a great time for all of us .

PLAN FOR THE VACATION

The thought that I along with my family will be going for vacations thrilled me It was something like the sea beaches of ORRISSA were calling me and I must go there..

From other point of view, it was important because I will be travelling along with my family. In this busy world, we hardly get time to talk and to have fun together. Family trips are a great way to get to know family members more deeply and to spend some quality time together outside of our normal routine interactions in our day to day lives. No matter how simple or extravagant the vacation, the act of getting together with relatives and doing things together strengthens family relationships.

PLAN FOR THE VACATIONIt was decided that we ( my family) will be visiting to Odhisa. Backs packed and all set we started off for our memorable voyage to the land of art and culture, wildlife and adventure.

ORRISA TOURLocated on the east coast, Odisha (Formerly Orissa), also known as The Soul of India, is a mystical land where the hoary past and the modern today form a harmonious blend - where ancient temples mingle with modern five star hotels. A land filled with awe inspiring monuments, thousands of master craftsmen and artists, numerous wildlife sanctuaries, stunning natural landscapes...

TOURIST DESTINATIONSThere were wonderful places where we visited. They had great importance. Also it widened my memory about the history, culture and biodiversity richness of the area.

The places of interest were we visited are - PURI BEACHJAGGANATH TEMPLEKONARK SUN TEMPE DHAULICHILIKA LAKE AND THE BEAUTIFUL DOLPHINSUDAYGIRI AND KHANDAGIRI CAVESBHUBANESWAR CITYNANDANKANAN ZOOLOGICAL AND BOTANICAL GARDENPLANATORIUM IN BHUBANESWARCULTURAL HANDICRAFTS

LOCATION

Odisha lies between the latitudes 17.780N and 22.730N, and between longitudes 81.37E and 87.53E. The state has an area of 155,707km2, which is 4.87% of total area of India, and a coastline of 450km.[49]In the eastern part of the state lies the coastal plain. It extends from the Subarnarekha River in the north to the Rushikulya river in the south. The lake Chilika is part of the coastal plains. The plains are rich in fertile silt deposited by the six major rivers flowing into the Bay of Bengal: Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, Baitarani, Brahmani, Mahanadi and Rushikulya.

PURI BEACHFamous for its beautiful Odisha beaches, Beaches in Odisha (Orissa) truly engulfed us in a holiday spirit. We basked in the glory of a moderate sun here, the golden sand beaches left us still asking for more. Lovingly embraced by the Eastern Ghats at the eastern coast of India, the state of Odisha (Orissa) is one of the most beautiful ones in India. And it is to the striking sandy beaches with white sands and various tribal communities living in the most aborigine style that Odisha (Orissa) owes its beauty to. With a vast coastline spread over a lush area of 250 miles, Odisha (Orissa) still houses some relatively virgin or quite unexplored beaches. Endowed with nature's bounty, meandering rivers, impressive waterfalls, forest-clad blue hills of Eastern Ghats with rich wild life, Odisha (Orissa) is dotted with exquisite beaches.

SAND ART FESTIVALOn the occasion of Christmas and New Year, we were grateful to have a look at a new type of art i.e. SAND ART. The beach of Puri was decorated with beautiful sand arts created by PADMABHUSAN SHRI SUDARSHAN PATNAYAK AND HIS STUDENTS It was a great for all of s to have a glimpse of this art.

KONARK SUN TEMPLEOne of the most stunning monuments of religious significance, a true masterpiece of architecture proudly stands in the form of Sun Temple at Konark. A culmination of Oriya architecture, the temple is a wonderful place as the language of stone defeats the human language here. Built in 13th century by King Narasimhadeva, the temple is designed in the shape of a colossal chariot with seven horses and twelve wheels, carrying the sun god, Surya, across heavens.

BOATING IN CHILIKA LAKEAsia's largest brackish water lagoon with water spread ranging from 1165 sq km m the rainy season to 906 sq km in the dry season is nestled in the heart of the coastal Odisha (Orissa). It is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a 60 km long narrow strip of marshy islands and sand-flats.

Chilika is recognized as one of the most important wetlands in the world because it is home to a phenomenal variety of birds. Chilika Lake offers visitors a spectacular display of its colorful avian charms in a thousand different hues presented by over 160 species in the peak season between November and February. The lake and its reed islands teem with nesting birds-white bellied sea eagles, ospreys, golden plovers, sand pipers, flamingos, pelicans, shovellers, gulls, include migratory ones flying great distances from Iran, Central Asia and Siberia.

NANDANKANAN ZOOAmidst the natural beauty of natural forest adjacent to Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary, Nandankanan lies in the vicinity of Kanjia lake. Nandankanan has contributd in a big way to ex-situ and in-situ conservation of Wildlife in the State.

It is one of the largest and well kept Zoo in India!Seeing wild animals in the open is one of the memorable experience. You can see every animal here ,more than 30 types of snakes, lions(Every kid's wish) and many more.

HANDLOOM AND CULTURE

Having an ancient tradition of making splendid pieces of art by hands Oriya artists have long been presenting their awe inspiring master pieces to the world. There are a lot of handicrafts that have been running as the life force in the cultural land of Odisha (Orissa). Some of which include- Patta Chitra, Sand Art, Metal Work, Silver Filigree, Stone Carving and making Puppets and Masks etc.

TEMPLESBelonging to the 11th century and enjoying the honor of being one of the 'char dhams', the pilgrimage that every Hindu intend to visit; Jagannath Temple is the honor of Puri and Odisha (Orissa). The holy sight of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by Subhadra and Balabhadra raises loads of joy among the devotees. The two gods and the goddess of the temple are ornamented in accordance with the occasion and seasonal change. The structural design of the temple can be found to be in pyramid shape. DHAULITEMPLES

Dhauligiri Hills is a place marked with the serenity of Daya River and lies at a distance of 8 Km from Bhubaneswar. The famous rock edicts of Ashoka are worth witnessing. Moreover, it is in Dhauli Hills that adopted the path of dharma which lets only peace and love enter your lives. The concept of dharma- vijay became his ultimate goal as he took Buddhist teachings deep into his heart. The end of the bloody battles was only to serve and favor mankind. With this, the religious and spiritual beliefs of Buddhism spread to different parts of the world. Dhauli Hills in Bhubaneswar takes you to the site of the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. The dome structure of the Shanti Stupa possesses five umbrellas and they symbolize the five essential parts of Buddhism. It was something like we all have went into a silence, a silence in which our senses were not in our controlWe were enjoying the true essence of PEACE.LIGHT SHOW AT DHAULI

Back to home !!!At last, after a trip of 5 enjoyable days, we reached our home back..The trip will always remain in my heart and mind about the fun that I along with my family members had. During the trip, I came across a lot of educational things that have helped me grow in my knowledge about the culture, biodiversity and tradition of that state. The trip acted as a refreshment for all of us from the daily busy routine and now we all can get back to our works and give our 100%

LOOKING FORWARD TO VISIT ODISHA AGAIN..
