Advisor Assignments Students are assigned an academic advisor in the College of Business

upon admission to the University.

You must see your advisor each semester to discuss course selection, information pertinent to your progression and to get your registration pin.

Students can make appointments with their advisor by contacting the Advising Center at (252) 328-5571

Students should check ECU email accounts frequently!Private AOL, Yahoo, etc. accounts will not be used.

Concentration Details

You are admitted to the College of Business upon admission to the university, but to declare your concentration and continue your business studies, you must:

1.Complete 45 semester hours2.Earn a 2.5 overall grade point average3.Earn a 2.5 GPA in the following 8 courses:

ACCT 2401, ACCT 2521ECON 2113, ECON 2133FINA 2244MATH1066, MATH 2283MIS 2223

You must have a C or above in the 8 courses listed.

Math Transfer students must take MATH 1066 unless they have received credit for a

calculus course: MATH 2119, MATH 2121, MATH 2171, MATH 2172.

In order to register for Math 1066, students must first take the Math Placement Exam http://www.ecu.edu/math/ and score a 14 or higher on the exam.

Students DO NOT need to take the Math Placement Exam if they 1) have credit for MATH 1065, 2) received a 540+ on the Mathematics section of the SAT, or 3) received a 22+ on the Mathematics section of the ACT.

College of Business students now participate in the Leadership and Professional Development Program.  The program helps to ensure that leadership development is a focus of the core program of study and consists of completion of the following four courses along with each student's development of a Leadership and Professional Development Portfolio.

• All incoming students now participate in our unique Leadership and Professional Development Program.

• This program hones the skills essential for success in the business world ‒ including leadership skills, communication skills, and professionalism – while teaching the “nuts and bolts” of business.

• Students complete the following four courses along with a Leadership and Professional Development Portfolio.

BUSI 1200 – Strategy First• Strategy First is an exciting class that touches on all areas of business by using Business Week magazine as the course textbook.

• Thanks to a generous endowment from RBC Bank, students pay no cost for their course materials in Strategy First.

• Throughout the course, students will investigate the factors that contribute to a firm’s ability to survive long-term in a competitive environment.

BUSI 2200 – Leadership I: Interpersonal and Teamwork Skills

• This course focuses on teamwork skills and interpersonal skills critical to success in the 21st century.

• At the completion of BUSI 2200, students will demonstrate their self-awareness and interpersonal skills by being able to define and communicate a goal, organize and motivate a team, and lead a team to successful achievement of the goal.

BUSI 3200 – Leadership II: Professional Development Skills

• In BUSI 3200, you will focus on your own professional development, learning how to act properly.

• At the completion of this course, students will demonstrate their ability to advance their careers by conducting themselves appropriately in business settings.

BUSI 4200 – Leadership III: Leadership Capstone

• This course encourages students to reflect on their own leadership experiences, as well as those from various organizations, to demonstrate their knowledge of applied leadership.

Leadership and Professional Development Portfolio • Throughout your time in the College of Business, you will complete a Leadership Portfolio to help reinforce valuable lessons ‒ with tasks such as:

business-related reading assignments volunteer work etiquette instruction professional writing teamwork exercises and more

• Elements in the portfolio complement your leadership courses, encouraging you to stretch your own personal leadership development.

• When you graduate, you'll have tangible evidence of what you've accomplished – perfect to show prospective employers!

Please remember that you are registering later than current ECU students this time.

Register for at least 12 hours for full time status. There will be a great deal of movement between now and when classes begin. Departments will not special add you at this time.

If you feel you should be awarded particular credit for a transfer course that was not awarded, you would need to bring a syllabus for the course and the Departmental Chair will review it.

Classes can be added through August 31st . Classes can be dropped without penalty through August

30th . Classes can be dropped using a drop through October 19th. Schedules cancelled for non-payment: August 16, 2010.

Payment must be made by 4:00 pm. If you have problems with Drop/Add: Advising Center- Bate

3016.

ONESTOP/BANNER Notes You can check to see if CC credits have

transferred by clicking on Student Record/Academic Transcript in BANNER- questions go to the Registrar.

When you are registering for classes, a C indicates that a section is closed.

Courses with sections 600+ are online*You are eligible to register for sections less than 600: 601, 602, 603 etc.*Sections 620 and higher are restricted to cohorts of students and you can’t register for them.

BANNER Instructions Step 1: Log into One Stop with Pirate ID and Passphrase and select Banner Self Service link from

Tools page. Step 2: Select Student and Financial Aid menu and then select Registration. Step 3: Select Add or Drop Classes. Enter your Registration PIN from your advisor and select correct

term at the bottom; select Class Search for courses. Step 4: Search for courses. Enter course name and number (You can also choose instructor, time of day,

instructional method etc. but this IS NOT required) Step 5: Once you have entered your information, select the Class Search link at the bottom. This returns

a list of all courses meeting the criterion you entered. Select the section you want by checking the box next to that section. If a “C” appears, the section is already closed.

Step 6: After checking the appropriate section box, scroll to the bottom and select Register. Step 7: You will be taken back to your schedule to view it with the new class added. If there were any

errors such as pre-requisites, co-requisites or other restrictions, the error will display with your schedule and the course will not be added.

Step 8: Repeat steps 4-7 to add additional classes. Step 9: To drop classes, pull the drop down menu beside the course you wish to drop and select ** Web

Dropped**. Step 10: At the bottom, select the Submit Changes link and the course will be removed from your

schedule. Step 11: To see your schedule in calendar format, click on Week at A Glance and then Next Week.
