Opening processional hymn : Hark! Hark! My Soul

1. Hark, hark my soul angelic songs are swelling O’er earth’s green fields and ocean’s wave beat shore How sweet the truth those blessed strains are tell ing Of that new life when sin shall be no more! Angels of Jesus, Angels of light Singing to welcome the pilgrims of the night!

And through the dark its echoes sweetly ringing The music of the gospel leads us home Angels of Jesus, & c. 3. Far, far away, like bells at evening pealing. The voice of Jesus sounds o’er land and sea And laden souls, by thousands meekly stealing, King Shepherd, turn their weary steps to Thee Anels of Jesus, & c.

4. Rest comes at length; though life be long and dreary, The day must dawn and dark some night be past: All journeys ends in welcome to the weary And heav’n the heart’s true home will come at last Angels of Jesus, & co 5. Angels, sing on your faithful watches keeping Sing us sweet fragments of the songs above; While we toil, on and soothe ourselves with weeping Till l ife’s long night shall break in endless love, Angels of Jesus.& c

First reading

A reading from St. Paul’s 1 st letter to the Thessalonians 4:13-18

We shall stay with the Lord for ever.

We want you to be quite certain, sister, about those who have died, to make sure that you do no grieve them, like the other people who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and it will be the same for those who have died in Jesus; God will bring them with Him. We can tell you this from the Lord’s own teaching, that any of us who are alive until the Lord’s coming will not have any advantage over those who have died. At the trumpet of God the voice of the Archangel will call out the command and the Lord Himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. So we shall stay with the Lord forever, with such thoughts, as these you should Comfort one another. This is the word of the Lord

Thanks be to God

Responsorial psalm

1. The Lord is my shepherd There is nothing I shall want Fresh and green are the pastures Where he gives me repose Near restful waters he leads me To revive my drooping spirit. 2. He guides me along the right path; He is true to his name, If I should walk in the valley of darkness No evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff With these you give me comfort. 3. You have prepared a banquet for me In the sight of my foes My head you have anointed with oilMy cup is overflowing.

R: His goodness shall follow me always to the end of my days

4. Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me All the days of my life In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell Forever and ever.

5. To the Father and Son give glory, Give glory to the Spirit To God who is, who was and who will be Forever and ever.

Gospel St John 11:21-27

Alleluia, Alleluia

I am the resurrection and the life.

At that time, Martha said to Jesus: “if you had been here, Lord, my sister would not have died, but I know that, even

now, whatever you ask God will grant you.”

“Your sister“, said Jesus to her, “will rise again”,

“I know” replied Martha,

“That he will again in the resurrection at the last Day“ Jesus said to her ”I am the resurrection and the life. He who

believes in me, even though he dies, shall l ive, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’

“Yes Lord,” she said to Him “I believe that you are Christ, the son of the living God, the one who was to come into this

world”.

This is the Gospel of the Lord

R: Praise be to you Lord, Jesus Christ

Tributes

“You were there when we took our first steps,And went unsteadily across the floor. You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,Until our steps took us out the door...You worry now “Are they ok?”Is there more you could have done?As we walk the paths of our unknownYou wonder” Where have my children gone?”Where we are is where you have led us,With your special love you showed us a way,To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.And where we go you can be sure,In spirit you shall never be alone. For where you are is what matters most to us,Because to us that will always be home. - Kunle Abiona

The values you’ve taught, the care you’ve given, and the wonderful love you’ve shown, have enriched my lifein more ways than I can count.I Love you Mom - Mobolaji Ayuba

“Over my slumbers your loving watch keep;Rock me to sleep, mother; rock me to sleep”- Babatunde Ayuba

God made a wonderful mother,A mother who never grows old;He made her smile of the sunshine. And He moulded her heart of pure gold;In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,In her cheeks fair roses you see;God made a wonderful mother,And He gave that dear mother to me - Mrs Olayinka Fadare
