    Principals Message

    To Students and Parents:

    The Orcutt Academy High Handbook is maintained and updated on the district

    website. (www.orcutt-schools.net, click on schools, scroll down to Orcutt Academy

    and visit the high school pages or link directly at www.oahs.net). Orcutt Academy

    parents and students will find this handbook to be a helpful resource as they plan for

    the future and understand and follow the guidelines that help to keep Orcutt Academy

    among the top 3% of high school nationwide.

    Parents and students are encouraged to review the handbook as part of the orientation

    to the school. The standards in the handbook will be followed and used to help keep all

    students at Orcutt Academy on track in all aspects of high school student preparations

    for college and career choice. Our team of counselors and administrative staff will be

    glad to assist parents and students in interpreting information contained in this

    document.

    We are committed to offering our students a high quality education. Parents are

    encouraged to be a part of their students planning, progress and educational success

    by supporting at home what we are trying to teach at school.

    Our Mission Statement: The mission of Orcutt Academy Charter High School is to provide our 600 students with a rigorous academic program, extracurricular opportunities for all, and a tight-knit school culture where students are connected with our teachers and staff. The overarching goal is to equip each student with the ability to be college/career-ready upon graduation. Key principles govern this collaboration: Personal relationships, respect, and understanding between all students, parents and all staff at Orcutt Academy. Our Vision Statement: Orcutt Academy Charter High School will lead students to achieve excellence in a wide range of academics and extracurricular activities in a twenty-first century charter high school facility. We will equip students for the demands and opportunities of the future by attracting and maintaining high-quality teachers and staff who challenge students to be focused on college/career readiness through a disciplined and caring environment where conduct, ethics, and high morals are expected.

    Explanation of Class Schedules

    Orcutt Academy High School uses a unique schedule in order to maximize student learning. On

    Monday, Tuesday and Friday, students will attend all 6 classes. School will start at 7:49 a.m. and

    conclude at 2:50 p.m. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will attend 3 classes plus a Spartan Seminar or SPIN

    (Specialized Instruction) period. On Wednesday they will attend their odd classes (1, 3, and 5)

    along with Spartan Seminar. On Thursday they will attend their even classes (2, 4, and 6)

    along with SPIN. School will start at 7:49 a.m., and conclude at 2:10 p.m., allowing teachers

    time for collaboration and planning. Each class will be 94 minutes in length

    Monday Friday, we have a zero period for students enrolled in class during that time.

    (this does not apply to all students).
