Warranty
WARRANTYTERMS AND CONDITIONS
InthiswarrantySimbaInternationalLtd.,isreferredtoas“theCompany”.
1. SubjecttotheprovisionsofthiswarrantytheCompanywarrantseachnewmachinesoldbyittobesoldfreefromanydefectinmaterialorworkmanshipforaperiodof12monthsfromdateofinstallationwiththeend-user.
Somespecificitemshaveadditionalwarrantyoverandabovethestandard12months.DetailsofthesecanbeobtaineduponrequestdirectlyfromthedistributororSimbaInternationalLtd.
2. IfthemachineorpartthereofsuppliedbytheCompanyisnotinaccordancewiththewarrantygiveninclause1theCompanywillatitsoption:
(a) makegoodthemachineorpartthereofattheCompany’sexpense,or(b) makeanallowancetothepurchaseragainstthepurchasepriceofthemachineorpart
thereof,or(c) acceptthereturnofthemachineandatthebuyersoptioneither: I) repayorallowthebuyertheinvoicepriceofthemachineorpartthereof,or II) replacethemachineorpartthereofasisreasonablypractical.
3. ThiswarrantyshallnotobligetheCompanytomakeanypaymentinrespectoflossofprofitorotherconsequentiallossorcontingentliabilityofthePurchaserallegedtoarisefromanydefectinthemachineorimposeanyliabilityontheCompanyotherthanthatcontainedinclause2.
4. AnyclaimunderthiswarrantymustbenotifiedtotheCompanyinwritingspecifyingthematterscomplainedofwithin14daysfromthedateofrepair.
5. Anyclaimunderthiswarrantymustbemadebytheoriginalpurchaserofthemachineandisnotassignabletoanythirdparty.
6. IfthepurchaserhiresoutthemachinetoanythirdpartythewarrantyshallapplyonlytomattersnotifiedtotheCompanyinwritingwithin90daysofthedateofdeliveryandclause1shallbereadasiftheperiodof90daysweresubstitutedfortheperiodof12months.
7. Thewarrantywillceasetoapplyif:
(a) anypartsnotmade,suppliedorapprovedinwritingbytheCompanyarefittedtothemachineor(b) anyrepairiscarriedouttothemachineotherthanbyorwiththeexpresswrittenapprovalofthe
Companyor(c) anyalterationsnotexpresslyauthorizedbytheCompanyinwritingaremadetothemachineor(d) themachineisdamagedbyaccidentor(e) themachineisabusedoroverloadedorusedforapurposeorloadbeyonditsdesigncapabilities,
orusedinconjunctionwithatractorwhosepoweroutputcapabilityexceedsthestatedimplementpowerrequirementbymorethan40%.Forthepurposeofthesetermsandconditions,“statedimplementpowerrequirement”referstowheeledtractorsunlessspecificallystated.Thesepowerrequirementsshouldbereducedby20%whenusedinconjunctionwithtrackedtractors.
(f) themachineisoperatedaspartofa‘cultivationtrain’wheremorethanoneimplementisbeingtowed,withouttheexpresswrittenapprovalofSimbaInternationalLtd.
(g) anymaintenanceisnotcarriedout inaccordancewiththeserviceschedules intheoperator’smanual.
(h) theInstallationandWarrantyRegistrationCertificateisnotreceivedbySimbaInternationalLtd.,ServiceDept.,WoodbridgeRoad,Sleaford,Lincolnshire,England,NG347EW,within7daysofinstallinganewmachine.

Introduction
Introduction
ForewordMake sure you have readand follow theOperatingInstructionscarefullybeforeusingthemachine.By doing so, youwill avoidaccidents,reducerepaircostsanddowntimeandincreasethereliabilityandservicelifeofyourmachine.Payattentiontothesafetyinstructions!
SimbaGreat Plains will not accept anyresponsibilityforanydamageormalfunctionsresulting from failure to complywith theOperatingInstructions.
TheseOperating Instructionswill assistyouingettingtoknowyourmachineandinusingitcorrectlyforitsintendedpurposes.First,youaregivengeneralinstructionsinhandling themachine.This is followedbysections on servicing,maintenance andtheactiontobetakenshouldamalfunctionoccur.
Theseoperatinginstructionsaretobereadandfollowedbyallpersonsworkingonorwiththemachine,e.g.:
• Operation (including preparation,remedying of faults in the operatingsequenceandservicing).
• Maintenance (maintenance andinspection)
• Transportation.
Togetherwith theOperating Instructions,you receive a Spare Parts List and aMachineRegistration form. Field servicetechnicianswillinstructyouintheoperationand servicing of yourmachine.Followingthis, theMachineRegistration form is tobe returned to your dealer.This confirmsyour formal acceptance of themachine.Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthedateofdelivery.
We reserve the r ight to al terillustrations as well as technicaldataandweightscontainedintheseOperatingInstructionsforthepurposeofimprovingthemachine.
Warranty GuidelinesTheperiodof liability formaterial defects(warranty) relating to our products is 12months. Inthecaseofwrittendeviationsfromthestatutoryprovisions,theseagreementsshallapply.
Theyshallbecomeeffectiveuponinstallationof themachinewith theendcustomer.Allwearpartsareexcludedfromthewarranty.
Allwarranty claimsmust be submitted toSimbaGreatPlainsviayourdealer.

1.3 Operational SafetyThemachine is to be put in operationonly after instruction has been providedby an employee of the authorised dealeror an employee of SimbaGreat Plains.The “MachineRegistration” form is to becompletedandreturnedtoyourdealer.
All protectiveandsafetyequipment, suchas removable protectiveequipment,mustbeinplaceandfunctioningreliablybeforethemachineisputinuse.
Checkscrewsandboltsregularlyfor tightness and retighten ifnecessary.
In the event of malfunctions,stop and secure the machineimmediately.
Ensurethatanyfaultsareremediedimmediately.
1.3.1 No Liability for Consequential DamageTheFlatliner500hasbeenmanufacturedwith great care.However, problemsmaystilloccurwhenitisusedfortheintendedpurpose.Thesemayinclude:
•Wornwearingparts.•Damagecausedbyexternalfactors.•Incorrectdrivingspeeds.• Incorrect setting of the unit (incorrectattachment,non-adherence to theSettinginstructions).
Therefore, it is crucial to alwayscheck yourmachine before andduring operat ion for correctoperationandadequateapplicationaccuracy.
Compensationclaimsfordamagewhichhasnot occurred to themachine is excluded.This includes any consequential damageresultingfromincorrectoperation.
1.2 Use for the Intended Purpose TheSimbaGreat Plains Flatliner 500 isbuilt using the latest technology and inaccordancewith the relevant recognisedsafety regulations. However, risks ofinjury for theoperatoror thirdpartiesandimpairmentofthemachineorothertangibleassetscanariseduringuse.
Themachineisonlytobeoperatedwheninatechnicallyperfectconditionandfortheintendedpurpose,takingintoconsiderationsafetyandrisksandfollowingtheOperatingInstructions. In particular, faults that canimpairsafetyaretoberemediedimmediately.
Original parts and accessories fromSimbaGreatPlains havebeen speciallydesigned for thismachine. Spare partsandaccessories not suppliedbyushavenotbeen testedorauthorised. Installationoruseofnon-originalSimbaGreatPlainsproductsmayhaveadetrimentaleffectonspecificdesignfeaturesofthemachineandaffectthesafetyofmachineoperatorsandthemachineitself.SimbaGreatPlainswillacceptnoliabilityfordamageresultingfromtheuseofnon-originalpartsoraccessories.
TheSimbaGreat Plains Flatliner 500 isdesignedsolelyasacultivationimplement.Useforanyotherpurpose,e.g.,asameansoftransport,willbedeemedtobeimproperuse. SimbaGreat Plains will accept noliabilityfordamageresultingfromimproperuse.The riskwill be borne solely by theoperator.
UseoftheFlatliner500behindhighpowertractors (in excess of 40% above themaximumrecommended)canleadtohighloadsandstresseswhichcancause longtermstructuraldamagetothechassisandkey components. Such overloading cancompromisesafetyandistobeavoided.

1.5.1 Hitching-up the machineThere is a risk of injury when hitching/unhitching the machine. Observe thefollowing:
• Securethemachineagainstrolling.• Take special carewhen reversing the
tractor!• Thereisariskofbeingcrushedbetween
themachineandthetractor!• Parkthemachineonfirm,levelground.
1.5.2 Changing Equipment• Secure themachine toprevent it from
accidentallyrollingaway!• Use suitable supports to secure any
raisedframesectionssuspendedaboveyou!
• Caution!Riskofinjuryduetoprojectingparts!
Never climb on to rotating partssuchas the rollunit.Thesepartsmayrotatecausingyoutoslipandsufferseriousinjury!
Removing components duringmaintenancemayaffectthestabilityof themachine. Ensure it is fullysupported in caseof unexpectedweightshifts.
1.5 Accident PreventionInadditiontotheOperatingInstructions,itisimportanttoobservetheaccidentpreventionregulations specifiedby agricultural tradeassociations.ItistheOperator’sresponsibilitytoensurethatallotherpersonsareexcludedfromthedangerzonessurroundingoronthemachineduringitsoperation.
ItistheOwner’sresponsibilitytoensure:
•theOperatoristrainedandcompetenttousethemachine&tractor,•thetractorissuitableforthemachine•adequateRiskandCOSHHassessmentshave been undertaken regarding themachine’s use.Specifically, these includeissues concerning contact with the soil,dust, crop residues, chemicals, lubricantsandothercompoundsduringoperationormaintenance,andthepossibilityofstonesbeingejectedathighspeedduringwork.
1.4 Road Traffic SafetyWhendrivingonpublic roads, tracksandareas,itisimportanttoobservetherelevantroad traffic laws aswell as the specificregulationsrelatingtothismachine.
Payattentiontothepermittedaxleloads,tyrecarryingcapacity,andtotalweight in order tomaintainadequatebrakingandsteerability.
Passengerson themachinearestrictlyforbidden!
Check that lights / indicators (ifapplicable) are working beforetransportingthemachine.
Max.roadtransportspeed16mph(25km/h).
Bewareoftrappinghazardswhenmanipulating theparkingstandsor other moving parts. Ensureanyheavycomponentsare fullysupportedwhenremovingpins/bolts.

1.5.3 During OperationEnsurethattheworkingrangeandtheareaaround themachine are clear (children!)beforeoperatingthemachine.
Alwaysensureadequatevisibility!
Donotstandonthemachinewhileit isinoperation!
Operatorsmusthaveavaliddrivinglicenceinordertodriveonpublicroads.
Thepersoninchargemust:
• providetheoperatorwithacopyoftheOperatingInstructions.
• ensure that theoperatorhasreadandunderstoodtheinstructions.
• makesurethattheoperatorisawareofthe specific regulations relating to themachinewhendrivingonpublicroads.
As transport regulations vary regionally,theregulationswhichapplytoyourlocalityshould be compliedwith in terms of thismachine. Note specific requirementsregarding implement width, speed, andfeaturessuchaslightsandbrakes:ensurethesearecompliedwith(forexamplekeeptomaximum transportation speedswithmachines if not fittedwith brakes, and/oraccordingtomachinetransportationwidth).
1.6 Servicing & MaintenanceEnsurethatregularchecksandinspectionsare always carried outwithin the periodsrequired by law or specified in theseOperatingInstructions.
Whencarryingoutserviceandmaintenanceworkalways:
• switchoffthetractorengineandremovetheignitionkey.
• wait until all themachine parts havestoppedmoving.
Payparticularattentiontothoseitemswhichrequire specialist service tools or trainingtobecarriedoutbyqualifiedpersonnel.Donotattempttoservicetheseitemsyourself!Theseincludeitemsretainingpressure(e.g.accumulatorcircuits),or force(e.g.springtines),andDDaxlesofanytype.

1.7 Operating AreasThe operating areas include the 3 pointlinkage and depth adjustment equipmentaswell as all operating points requiringmaintenance.
All operating areaswill be specified anddescribedindetailinthefollowingchaptersonservicingandmaintenance.
Observeall safety regulations included intheSectiondealingwithSafety,andinthesubsequentsections.
1.8 Authorised OperatorsOnly those persons who have beenauthorisedand instructedby theoperatormay operate themachine.The operatormustbeatleast16yearsofage.
1.9 Protective EquipmentForoperationandmaintenance,yourequire:
• Tightfittingclothing.• Strong protective gloves (to provide
protectionagainstsharp-edgedmachinecomponents).
• Protectivegoggles (tostopdirtgettingintoyoureyes).

2. Transportation and InstallationTransportationandinitialinstallationofthemachinearedescribedinthischapter.
2.1 DeliveryThemachine is normally delivered, fullyassembled,ona(low-bed)truck.
• Themachine can be lifted off with acrane, fork-lift truck, or other suitableliftingequipment. Whendoingso, theweights(seeTechnicalData),thecentreofgravityandtheattachmentpointsonthemachinearetobetakenintoaccount.Dependingontheliftinggear,attachmentisonlytobeatappropriatepointsontheframe.
• Themachinecanbehitchedtoatractoranddrivenoffalow-loader.
2.2 TransportationTheFlatliner 500 can be transported onpublicroadsbyhitchingituptoatractororonalow-bedtruck.

WiththeFlatliner500mountedonthetractorthree-pointlinkage,lowerthemachineuntilthefootoftheleadingtineisrestingontheground.The trailing tinesshouldbe50 to125mmclearoftheground,dependingonthewidth of the implement andwhat thedesired operating depth is to be.Set thetrailingtinesbyadjustingthelengthofthetoplink(A).
Once inwork the operating depth of themachinehastobecontrolledbytherollunitorelseitwillattempttogodeeper.Therollunitissetusingthetoplink(C).
Therollunitservestwofunctions;itconservessoilmoisture,breakingupanyclodsleftbythetinesandlimitstheoperatingdepthofthemachine.Thepressurethatmaybeexertedupontheclodsbytherollislimitedbytheweightoftheimplementandthedownwardtine thrust.This downward thrust can beincreasedbyfittingwiderwings,orslightly
increasingtheangleofthepointsandwings(shorteningthetoplink-A),andbyminimisinganydraftcontrolsettingonthetractor.Thisisthefirstareatobeinvestigated,ifmorecrumblerpressureshouldberequired.Draftcontrol can also inhibit initial penetrationif the implement is loweredtooquicklyonthemoveintowork.Therapid increaseindraft is sensedby the tractor,which theninhibitsfurtherpenetration.Thesolutionistograduallyleadtheimplementintowork,thereby not imposing a rapid increase inpullingforce.
In most cases where a significant rollpressure is required it is advisable toeliminatedraftcontrolifpossible.
TheFlatliner500mustrunreasonablylevelorslightlynosedowntoachieveconsistantresultsacrossitswidthandanyincreaseindownwardthrustwillsignificantly increasethepullrequired.

Iftherollisexertingtoomuchpressurefortheconditions,but if raisedwillcause themachine tooperate toodeeply, thendraftcontrolmayhavetobeused.Theoperatingdepthcanbecontrolledtoacertainextentby lengthening the tractor top link. Thiscausestheimplementtoruntaildownandreducesthedownwardthrustonthepointsandwings,reducingtheshatteringeffectofthetines.
Thelowestdraughtrequirementisachievedwhenthemachineisslightlytaildown(allpoints touching the ground at the sametime).Howeverthebestshatteringeffectisachievedwhen themain frame is runninglevel,thisattitudebeingmoredesirable.
Hard/Dry Conditions
The Flatliner 500 achieves best resultsin dry conditions but under very hard/dryconditions itmay produce large clods ofsoilatthesurface.Iftherollunitisunabletobreak theseclodsdowneffectively thismay be overcomeby removing the tinesand increasing the spacing, or an initialprecultivation at 50 to 100mm (eg.Disc)depthtoeliminatethepossibilityofforminglargeclodsfromsoilatthisdepth.
Surface Trash
The ‘ V ‘ shape of the Flatliner frame isideal forfieldswithsurface trashas thereare few places for blockages to occur,butunderextremeconditions foulingmaystillbeevident.Thiscanbeovercomebyeitherincreasingthemainframetogroundclearanceoftheimplement(byloweringthetinesintheirclamps)orbyremovingsometinesifnecessary.

4.8 Work InstructionsDriving speedTheFlatliner500shouldbedrivenwithinaspeedrangeof7-10km/h.
Thisdependsonthefieldconditions(typeofsoil,surfacetrash,etc.).
Drivemore slowly if the conditions aredifficult.
Turning:Beforeturning,themachineshouldbeeasedoutofworkwhiledriving.Likewise, it should eased backintoworkonce the turnhasbeencompleted.
Parking the MachineIn order to avoid damage as a result ofmoisture,themachineshouldbeparked,ifpossible,indoorsorundercover.

Specialistequipmentisrequiredfor the disassembly of DoubleDiscaxles.Pleaseconsultyourdealerunderanycircumstancesthatrequiredisassemblyoftheseaxles.
5.1 ServicingYourmachinehasbeendesignedandcon-structedformaximumperformance,opera-tional efficiency andoperator friendlinessunderawidevarietyofoperatingconditions.
Prior to delivery, yourmachine has beencheckedatthefactoryandbyyourauthoriseddealertoensurethatyoureceiveamachineinoptimumcondition.
To ensure trouble-free operation,it is important that servicing andmaintenanceworkisperformedattherecommendedintervals.
5.2 CleaningIn order to ensure that themachine isalwaysinoperatingconditionandtoachieveoptimumperformance,performthecleaningandservicingworkatregularintervals.
Avoid cleaning the roll bearings with ahigh-pressure hose or a directwater jet.Thehousing,screwedconnectionsandballbearingsarenotwatertight.
5.3 Changing Tine Points and WingsWhenchangingthetinepointsandwingsitisimportanttoobservesafeworkingpractices.
• Themachineshouldberaisedandtheparking stands should beput into themaintenancesetting(seeFig. 2.01onPage16).
• Lower themachine onto the parkingstands.
• Whilestillattachedtothetractor,thetinepointswillbeclearofthegroundallowingforthemaintenancetotakeplace.
Do not attempt to assist fittingtine pointswith a steel headedhammer, as this can lead tosplinteringofthemetalduetoitshardness,whichcancauseinjury.Iftinefittingrequiresassistance,a copper/hidemallet should beused.Weareyeprotection.
Ifparkingstandsarenotfitted:
• Lowerthemachineontoalevelandsolidsurface.
• With themachine fitted to the tractor,removethetoplink.
• Itisnowpossibletoraisethemachine,allowingittopivotonthe‘heels‘ofthetrailingtinessothataccesstothepointsisachieved.

5.7 Maintenance IntervalsApart f rom dai ly maintenance, themaintenance intervals are based on thenumberofoperatinghoursandtimedata.
Keepa recordof youroperatinghours toensure that the specifiedmaintenanceintervals are adhered to as closely aspossible.
Never use a machine that is due formaintenance.Ensure that all deficienciesfoundduringregularchecksareremediedimmediately.
Avoid sharp-edgedand pointedparts (tine points, etc.) whenworkingonthemachine.
Place themachine on suitables u p p o r t s w h e n w o r k i n gunderneath!Donotworkunderamachinewhichisnotsupported!
Onanewmachinetightenallnutsandboltsafter5hoursworkandagainafter15hours.Thisalsoapplies toparts that havebeenmovedorreplaced.Aftertheinitial15hoursofwork a once aweek check should besufficientdependingondailyworkrates.
5.5 Preparation for StorageIfyouneedtostorethemachineforalongerperiod,observethefollowingpoints:
• Parkthemachineundercoverifpossible.• Protect the roll against rust. If you
needtospraytherollwithoil,uselightbiologicallydegradableoils,e.g.rapeoil.
Coveranyrubbersectionsbeforeusingoilsprays.Thesesectionsmustnotbeoiled.Removeany tracesofoilwithasuitablecleaningagent.
5.ServicingandMaintenance
5.4 Double Disc AxlesTheaxlesonthisrolleraretensionedbythemainaxle through the centre of the ringsandbearings.
Specialistequipment is requiredfor the disassembly of DoubleDiscaxles.Pleaseconsultyourdealerunderanycircumstancesthatrequiredisassemblyoftheseaxles.
Maintenanceof these rollers is limited todailygreasingof thebearingstoflushoutdirt, and regular inspection to ensure theassemblies are tight, and scrapers arecorrectly set.Theaxles canbe tightenedprovided the bearing pillar ‘U’ bolts areloosenedtoavoidpreloadingthebearingsas theymove sideways to each other.Ensurethebearingpillarsarere-tightenedtothemainframeafterthis.

5.9 Lubricating the MachinePlease read the section below carefullybeforelubricatingthemachine.
Themachinemustbelubricatedregularlyinorderfor it toremainserviceable.Regularlubrication also contributes towardsextendingtheservicelifeofyourmachine.
Therecommendedlubricatingintervalsarespecifiedin“MaintenanceOverview”.
After it has beenwashed using a high-pressure hose or steam cleaned, themachineshouldalwaysbelubricatedusingagreasegun.
5.10 Handling of LubricantsPleaseensurethatyoureadthefollowinginstructions as well as the relevantinformation.Thisalsoappliestoanyofyouremployeeswhohandlelubricants.
HygieneLubricantsdonotpresentahealthhazardprovided theyareused for their specifiedpurpose.
In the case of prolonged skin contact,lubricants,especiallylow-viscosityoils,mayremovethenaturallayeroffatcontainedintheskin,resultingindrynessandpossibleirritation.
It is important to takeextremecarewhenhandlingwasteoilasitmaycontainotherirritants.
Vapoursgivenoffbycleaningagentsandoilsarealsoapotentialhealthhazard.Youshouldthereforenotcarryanyoilyclothsaround.Change soiledwork clothing assoonaspossible.
Alwaysexerciseextremecareandobservethe recommended hygiene rules whenhandlingmineral oil products. Details ofthese handling regulations can be foundin information provided by the healthauthorities.
Storage and Handling• Always store lubricants where they
cannotbeaccessedbychildren.• Never store lubricants in open or
unlabelledcontainers.
Fresh Oil• Apart from taking the usual care and
observinghygienerules,thereisnoneedto take any special precautionswhenhandlingfreshoil.
