QUILTER’S GAZETTE

After a very busy couple of months, I am finally finding my feet again, and getting back into the normal

swing of things! We had a very successful retreat yet again…thank you to those who attended and made

it such a fun and inspiring weekend! It made all the preparation worthwhile. We also had a great

response to our stand at the Stitches and Chat Craft Expo - despite the extremely warm days; it was a lot

of fun. In July, we are on the road again, to the Bucasia Beach Quilt & Craft Fair, on the 1st and 2nd July,

and then August sees us at the Emu Park Craft Expo, so plenty happening to keep us busy!

Our big news since the last newsletter is that we have added Husqvarna Viking to our fleet. So we can

now offer you sewing machines and accessories from Janome, Pfaff, Husqvarna, Singer, Brother,

Bernina, Elna and Handiquilter, making us the largest sewing machine agent in Central Queensland.

While we don’t hold every machine in stock, we can certainly order in any machine that you need, and a

full range of accessories to suit.

Our renovations have progressed and as many of you have seen, we have expanded our fabric display

into one area. It looks great, and makes it so much easier to see our extensive range of fabric, which now

numbers over 2000 bolts! Our 100+ backings are easier to see and access as well! More changes are

planned, and we will gradually work on this over the coming months. If you haven’t experienced our

“fabric cave” yet, pop out and spend a little time browsing.

The countdown is on for our Deb Louie workshops...I have 3 places left in each workshop, so if you were

thinking about signing up, don’t waste any time! I have just confirmed dates for Pauline Rogers to come

and do a 2 day workshop in September as well, which I am excited about…MORE DETAILS SOON.

July will see the changes to our VIP program come into effect. More details can be found further in the

newsletter.

Beginner’s Embroidery 101

Are you new to machine embroidery? Have you recently purchased an

embroidery machine but are not sure where to start? We can help

you! We will be commencing a fortnightly class for beginner

embroiderers, to get you going and guide you through a variety of

techniques to build your confidence and expand your skills. Stabilizers,

hooping, basic embroidery techniques for towels, t-shirts, through to

more advanced techniques, such as applique, quilting, in the hoop

projects, cutwork, free standing lace, etc. All brands of machine

catered for.

Commences Tuesday 21st June, 10am – 1pm. $25 per class.

Would you like to learn how to sew? Are

Create, Stitch & Gather

Every Wednesday we gather for a social sewing day.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring along your own

project to work on, and be inspired by each other’s

creativity. Lots of laughs and plenty of fun and

friendships.

Little Garden Cushion – learn all the various methods of machine applique as you work on this original design

Workshop 2: Let’s Quilt It! A comprehensive 2 day workshop on machine quilting. Learn all the tricks to straight line and free motion quilting, from beginning to end. Deb is an expert and prolific quilter and has MANY tips to help you gain confidence in machine quilting.

Join us each Friday for a fun-filled class, suitable for beginner patchworkers. Some classes will have a set project; others

will be a project of your choice. Fridays 9.30am – 1.30pm, $25 each class. Bring your fabrics and tools, such as rotary

cutter, ruler, mat, etc.

8th July: Bargello Placemat – Introduction to Bargello

Circular Purse

Learn how to master the circular attachment! We

will also use the ruffler foot, zipper foot and

couching foot with the circular attachment.

You can vary the pockets inside to suit the purpose

of your bag!

Two classes offered:

11th & 18th July, 9.30am – 1pm

18th & 25th July, 6pm – 9pm

$45 + requirements (please note, you will require a

circular attachment, ruffler foot and zipper foot

for your machine – if you need to order these,

please do so at least 2 weeks prior to class)

How to perfect an 8 Pointed Star

Learn how to master the technique of Y seams to

create a great 8 pointed star. I have lots of little

tips and hints to help with sewing this block. You

can turn your block into a cushion cover, or a cute

wall hanging or make more of them to make a

beautiful quilt.
