Opening 3 Minutes Of Kingsman Secret Service Analysed

Before the film starts we find out that Kingsman is a 20th Century Fox movie. And we are shown the well known introduction for 20th Century Fox.

As the film starts we are told by a small bit of text at the bottom of the screen that this film takes place In the middle east in 1997.

We see two men sitting on stools next to eachother listening to the radio, they are both wearing very active clothing. In fact the majority of the clothing they are wearing is from the army.

1:01 – 2:00

Suddenly a helicopter comes out of nowhere are shoots the two men. Both the men had tried to react to the helicopter by bringing out a grenade launcher and a gun, but it was too late. From this short scene we can tell that this thriller is going to involve a lot of violence.

The helicopter then goes onto shooting at a large building. As the helicopter shoots the building rocks cleverly fall off the building and form a text

telling us again that it is a 20th Century Fox movie and a cloudy production. Inside that particular building we see a helpless men strapped to a chair surrounded by

about 5 men all who are holding Ak47’s. The men are asking the man a question in a foreign language but he doesn’t reply, one of the men just shoots the man in the mouth, but he is still alive.

The men are wearing a black suit with a black mask.

2:01 – 3:00

The man strapped in the chair has a grenade on him which he lets off. One of the men jumps on him quickly to try and grab it off him to throw it away, but he is too slow. The grenade then blows up the man strapped to the chair but it also blows up the man who jumped on him, so both of them died.

As the explosion goes off the other men just jump frantically out of the way and end up lying on the floor. They then all get up slowly and seem rather stunned because of what happened.

One of men then takes off their mask and says “Shit, I missed him”, he clearly seems very angry that he didn’t kill the man and thinks that the death of one of his men was his fault.

The man then says that training is over and welcomes the other two men to Kingsman. At this moment we find out that this was only training to find out if the men were good enough to be involved in Kingsman.

Finally we get an establishing shot of London and a small bit of text shows telling us that the rest of the film takes place in London.
