About CAU

Incorporation of Chung-Ang University by DoosanCAU has dramatically developed since its incorporation as an educational institution with the global corporation Doosan Group

Since its incorporation, CAU has gone through powerful self-reforms and gained a higher reputation as an educa-tional institution.

●2012 JoongAng Ilbo University evaluation; 10th in overall rankings, 8th in faculty research, 6th in international-ization, 7th in reputation& alumni networks

First to Establish in Korea School of Economics, School of Pharmacy, School of Business Administration, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, School of Performing Arts and Media, School of Mass Communication

With a long history and deep tradition, Chung-Ang University is proud of its various departments. Chung-Ang Uni-versity is constantly striving towards becoming the best in Korea and one of the best in the world.

In particular, its culture and arts-related programs have been widely recognized as the best in the nation and have enabled the university to gain the status as the center of the recent “Korean Culture Wave” outside of Asia.

Chung-Ang Proves its Worth with its Exceptional Alumni. For the past 90 years, CAU has been committed in nurturing the talents of its students to be contributing members of society and tried to provide the most optimal environment for education and research. As part of its core values to serve in righteousness and truth, the university has continuously strengthened its liberal arts education, advanced academic standards and developed comprehensive international programs. The Preferred University by Korean StudentsChung-Ang University continues to gain status as a first-choice university by Korean students.

Tougher admissions standards has increased alongside higher enrollment rates, from 14:1 (applicants 28,850 / ad-missions 2,055) in 2008 to 29:1 (applicants 95,835 / admissions 3,304) in 2012.

It is evident from these figures that since the university’s incorporation by Doosan— to increasing its educational budget—and the university’s intensive reforms for better education, Korean students have renewed their trust and expectations of the quality of education provided by Chung-Ang University.

Academic Management System InnovationChung-Ang University has reorganized its previous 18 colleges into 5 fields of study with 11 colleges and 46 depart-ments with each faculty overseen by a Vice President that is directly involved with the needs and concerns of its col-leges and departments. CAU is the first university in Korea to have created specific vice-presidential positions whose sole focus is on a specific faulty rather than a broad range of other administrative concerns. These aims hope to im-prove the academic competitiveness of the colleges and provide a higher quality of education by merging overlap-ping departments and nurturing real student talents to be ready and wanted in the global market.
