The Wallangra Music Festival.

On Friday I had to get picked up by Annie Hickson to go to the Wallangra Music

Festival. The schools that were there were Gravesend, Yetman, Bundarra, Croppa

Creek, Ashford and Delungra. When the Ramsays got there the practice for the

matinee concert began. The first thing the instructors said on the microphone was

we were going to be split up into a K-2 group and a 3-6 group. I was in the 3-6

group. I saw some friends from Stewart House named Western and Leeroy. It was

good to see them again. The 3-6 group was first in the singing workshop. We did a

warm-up for two minutes. We started to practice to sing the song One Voice for an

hour then we swapped with the K-2 so 3-6 were going outside to practice our

dance. It was the animal dance. We practiced the animal dance for an hour then

had lunch. We went back inside with the K-2 and the instructors asked to stay in the

hall if you aren’t practicing the song Ice Upon Your Skin, I was practicing the song

with other people and the band Mae Treo and Brother Fox. After the 3-6 group

practised the song we went back inside. All the people that were not coming to the

matinee concert went to their buses and went back home. I was staying at the hall

for the concert so were the Ramsays and Hicksons. When the concert was about to

begin my Mum and Dad got to the hall. When it started a man came up on the

stage to do the introduction and then the K-2 group went with Laura King, the

dance teacher who taught the 3-6 group as well, and they sung Walking On

Sunshine with two year four girls named Lily and Olivia. They also sung an Aboriginal

lullaby. After that wonderful act it was the 3-6 turn. We were only singing the songs

Ice Upon Your Skin and One Voice. I was really excited to sing. After we sung we

went down to our seats. There were a number of acts by the Mackoskers and there

was a girl named Ella Cheal who played the piano. After that wonderful act it was

afternoon tea for five minutes then the 3-6 had to go on the stage and danced to

the animal dance and then we had the thankyou speech. At the end all the bands

and singers came together and sang One Voice then we all went home. Dad told

me on the way home that I should become a dancing doctor.

On Friday 18th March a group of our

students attended the

Wallangra Community Festival.

The Wallangra Music Festival

On Friday I went to the Wallangra Music Festival in Wallangra. To get there we had to go to tennis. When

we had finished our tennis lesson we went to Katie’s house for breakfast. Then we went to the Wallangra

singing and dancing workshop. When we got there, there were two bands one was named Mae Treo. The

Mae Treo was made up of 3 girls. The next band was Brother Fox they were made up of 2 boys. When we

sat down in the hall we were split into 3-6 and K-2. The first thing that I did was sing One Voice (I learned

One Voice from scratch but I picked it up pretty quickly). First we did warm ups by singing na na na na na

na na batman and we had to sing batman with our mouth really really wide. It sort of sounded like a

Scottish accent. Then we practiced singing the song. Next we went outside to dance with Laura King. It

was AWESOME! We did a contemporary Aboriginal, animal dance. We had the elephant, the emu, the

monkey and the buffalo. The next workshop was learning the song Ice Upon Your Skin, we learned that

with the Mae Treo and Brother Fox. The next thing we did was practice the animal dance on the stage but

we only got to do that once before we had to start the concert. In the concert we did all of the things that

we learned that day. The next day it was the real concert. I loved the comedian that hosted the show, he

was extremely funny. That night there were a heap of other bands, musicians and singers. There were so

much more of them I can’t remember all of the names. We had dinner there as well as dessert, it was so

delicious. My favourite band in the concert was Brother Fox.
