The girls are about take up tbe study of Pilgrim's Progress and expect to have instruc- tive meetings along this line. An editor works 365 days in a year I to get out 52 issues of a paper, that's [ labor. Once in a while a subscriber! pays a year in advance for his paper, that's capital. And once in a while some son-of-a-sea-eock of a dead beat takes the paper for two or three yeari and longer then skips out without paying for it. that's anarchy. If there is one thing more than an- other in our experience in publishing a local newspaper that makes us tired, it is the practice of some that tell us that we must not say anything about this or tbat thing that has hap- pened. There are two sides to every question and it wouid lie a very easy matter to formulate a reason why a paper should not report everything. If there is any thing that tortures an editor more than any thing else it is to publish a $15 or $20 obit- uary notice about some old, prom- inent citizen who never had man- hood to take his county paper. Edi- tors frequently put in such notices at request of relatives and friends, ' but it grinds them to eulogize a man 1 to the skies who was too 3ticgy to support his home paper. A three line notice is all such fellows de- [ serve. As were conversing with a young , married man the other evening, who had presumably tieen sent on a n : errand by his spouse, we were i interrupted by a third person, wbo j addressed this newly wed saying: j "Your wife has about lost her tem-1 per" "Hope s h e h a s ! " he said. At first we though that was awfully | mean thine for him to say. But a s I we strolled down the street we were 1 sized with the idea that possibly he | made tbe remark in all due respect 1 for his better half. She might have. had a had (temper) one. Such being] the case the remark of course was i justifiable. The " V " met at the home of Miss Lucie Mills on Tuesday evening and the meeting was truly enthusiastic.
