HRD Capacity Building Digital Hub

• Why a Digital Hub?

• Strongly promoted by a number of Member States, and requests through various TWGs

and Technical meeting requests for action and supports the resolution requests from the

previous GCs.

• What’s its Purpose?

• To provide a ‘one-stop’ shop approach to the key topics/areas of interest associated with

HRD

• Foster more efficient exchange of information and best practices across the world

communities in the specific topic areas

• Reach out to the wider communities using modern digital processes and communication

channels

• Save us significant amount of time and money in working with member states on these

topics

• Who can use it?

• All member states, it is designed for existing operating countries, extending countries and

newcomers

What is the Lead Project?

• Nuclear leadership DNA (LeaD) is a community of practice website

that intends to inform any newcomer, or a slightly more advanced

practitioner, in the field of nuclear leadership about what everyone

should understand about developing nuclear leadership.

Why has the agency developed it this way?

• During the past few years, the IAEA Member States have

repeatedly presented requests to receive practical guidance

about what nuclear leadership means and how it could be

developed / evaluated. This community of practice provides

with an attempt to reply to these requests.

Page 9: On-line Resources for Leaders An Introduction to the HRD

What is the Outcome of the Lead Project?

• To present good principles for development programmes that will

help to produce better nuclear leaders with the right attributes and

behaviours to support and maintain a strong organisational culture

for safety, security, safeguards, environment, human health and the

company economy.

Who is it aimed at?

• The target individuals are nuclear operating company or project

owner managers, officials and managers of the government or the

regulatory body. The users typically would include persons

responsible for leadership development and assessment, but we do

not discriminate against senior managers, directors or any employee

level.

Page 10: On-line Resources for Leaders An Introduction to the HRD

Is it the IAEA Model?

• There is no single leadership model that fits for all the norms, values,

facilities and activities, and the IAEA does not advocate any

particular approach.

• There is no intention to make LeaD a leader's self-help guide about

what to do or what to avoid or specify the common mechanisms or

styles of leadership

• Rather, the readers are given key principles and supporting

information as to how to design and evaluate any offered leadership

development programme

When will it be available?

• Currently undergoing construction and testing, planning to make the

website available autumn/fall this year
