Ayurveda Explains MIGRAINE Dr. Dharna, BAMS

MIGRAINE (SURYAVARTA) It is a tridoshic disorder(all three dosha’s are involved i.e, vata, pitta

and kapha) leading to pain around the eyes, eyebrows which

increase as the day proceeds and decreases as the sun sets. This

disorder is known as SURYAVARTHA as per the ayurvedic texts.

Treatment:- Ayurveda strictly believes that certain food items leads

to the aggravation of this condition, so a particular diet chart has to

be followed.

Various therapies like NASYAM, SHIRODHARA, SHIRO VASTI, SHIRO

LEPAM, are advised and varies from person to person. Internal

medication also plays vital role in the treatment procedure.

Treatment might take 2 -3 months, with visibly good results.

AYURVEDA SHIROVASTI TREATMENT

(Holding of medicated oil on the head) In this therapy the head is covered with a specific cloth such that it holds the medicated oil poured over the head. This medicated oil is kept over the head for a particular time. It is good for stress management and helps in strengthening the central nervous system.
