FROM YOUR

PASTOR’S HEARTHere we are on the edge of summer and nearly into fall. The year is flying by once again. I look forward to the fall season of beautiful leaves and harvest time. May we

always be grateful for the physical and spiritual bounty that God provides.

Reach Out – One way of expressing our thanks to God for the spiritual bounty we receive in Christ Jesus is to share the good news of His life, death, and resurrection with others. I hope you will join me on Tuesday nights in September as we reach out with the story of God’s love to those in our community who need to receive that good news.

Open House – Deborah and I would like to express our thankfulness for the home that the Lord has provided for us. We have completed nearly eighteen months of remodeling to our home, and we would love to share it with you. Please join us on Saturday, September 13 for an open house.

The Story – In September we continue our journey through the story of God’s love for us as we give thanks for the goodness of God in reaching out to us while we were yet sinners. Copies of The Story are still available. Sept. 7 Chapter 7: “The Battle Begins” Sept. 14 Chapter 8: “A Few Good Men . . . and

Women” Sept. 21 Chapter 9: “The Faith of a Foreign Woman” Sept. 28 Chapter 10: “Standing Tall, Falling Hard”

In A Nutshell

The October Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will be Saturday, October 4 at 8am at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church.

A Sunday school teacher gave her second-graders a month to memorize Psalm 23. One little boy was excited about the task but just couldn’t remember the whole chapter.

When the day came for the children to recite the Psalm before the congregation, the nervous boy stepped up to the microphone and said, “The Lord is my Shepherd, and that’s all I need to know!”

Reach Out Old GreenbrierDo we need to reach out with the good news of God to those around us? God’s Word commands that we do this. In September we will have a time of reaching out to our community with the good news of Jesus Christ. We seek to fulfill our mission of “sowing the seed of Jesus Christ so that people become His truly devoted followers.”Join us on Tuesday evenings September 9, 16, 23, and 30 at 6pm in Fellowship Hall as we prepare and then reach out to our community with the good news of Jesus’ love for everyone.

Fill Up and Fuel Up IIAfter worship on Sunday, September 7 we will

have a pot-luck luncheon to raise money to fuel up our oil and propane tanks for winter. Meat, bread, and drinks will be provided. So, come fill up on good food and donate what you would have spent on eating out to help us fuel up our tanks.
