A Grand Opening for Penrod Construction was held on April 3, 2014, Corey would like to thank all who attended this event for their support and well wishes. Penrod Construction Company was established in 2008 by Corey Penrod. Co-rey started out in the construction industry upon graduating from Okeechobee High School. He worked for the Car-penters’ Union Local #130 of West Palm Beach until 1998. From 1998 to 2001 he began working for Close Construction Inc. of Okeechobee as a carpenter, dry Waller, and painter... After gaining quite a bit of experience Corey was given the opportunity to become a Superintendent and Project Manager for Groza Builders of Port St Lucie Florida. In the 3 ½ years that he worked for Groza Builders he oversaw 200+ custom homes built as well as managed the construction of the company’s corporate office. In 2004 he worked for Adams’ Homes of Port St Lucie as a Superintendent. Al-though he only worked with Adam’s Homes for right at a year, due to the declining economy, he constructed over 50 model homes in that years span. In 2005, Corey came back to Close Construction Inc with a wealth of knowledge and began working as an Estimator, Superintendent, and Project Manager. In the two years that Corey worked for Close Construction Inc. he oversaw many of the company’s large projects including Buxton’s Funeral Home and Crema-tory, Utah Apartments, Gilbert Oil Company, and a two story addition to the company owner’s personal residence. In January of 2008 Corey decided he wanted to take the big step to become a General Contractor so that he could serve his hometown community with a more personal approach. Corey has very strong family values and he wanted that to be present in his company as well. When a client decides to use Penrod Construction Company for their project, they become a part of the Penrod family. Corey, along with his wife Desiree’, and their 4 children, Alexi, Shaun, Emery, and Jaxon, are lifelong residents of Okeechobee County. (Pictured Left: Right)City Councilmen Dowl-ing Watford, County Commissioner Bryant Culpepper, City Councilmen Clayton Williams, Mayor James Kirk, Chamber Business Development Chair John Gurney, Penrod Construction President Corey Penrod, Chamber Executive Director Antoinette Rodriguez and Chamber Customer Admin.
