Session 1: Ohio Oil and Gas Safety Council Meeting / When OSHA Comes Knocking... This session will cover reasons for an OSHA visit, citations and current penalty structure including multi-employer work-sites. Expected inspection procedures and timelines will be reviewed as well as recent changes to the record-keeping standard and common oil/gas industry violations. The presentation will also include commonly requested written documentation by OSHA and a sample plan for addressing an OSHA visit.Conducted by: Sarah Ghezzi, CSP, Industrial Safety Consultant Specialist, Ohio BWC

Session 2: “Snakes on an Oilpatch”It’s not a movie, it’s reality! This session will educate participants about the 30+ different species of snakes that could show up on oilfield locations throughout the state. Experts will also help you identify which species to watch out for, and how you should deal with snake infestations.Conducted by: Brian Banbury, Wildlife Officer, ODNR Division of Wildlife

Session 3: What are the Most Effective and Legal Means for Dealing with Protesters on your Location?This session will provide special security training taught by the “Cut Team”. This crucial information will protect your employees and your company. Conducted by: The “Cut Team” from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office

Session 4: Fire Extinguishers / SimulationsLearn basic fire safety, including proper use of fire extinguishers on oil and gas emergencies, identification of fire extinguishers, reporting procedures, classes of fire and fire cycles/causes/prevention.Conducted by: OOGEEP Firefighter Instructors / Ohio Certified Fire Instructors: Chief Brent Gates, New Concord Fire Department Chief Dick Glessner, Sterling Fire Department Charlie Dixon, IADC Certified Instructor, OOGEEP Safety & Workforce Director

LUNCH AND OOGEEP INDUSTRY UPDATE

Session 5: Who is in the Driver’s Seat?The importance of safe driving crucial for our industry as a whole. We will take a closer look at what we can do to be safer drivers. Conducted by: Sarah Ghezzi, CSP, Industrial Safety Consultant Specialist, Ohio BWC Charlie Dixon, IADC Certified Instructor, OOGEEP Safety & Workforce Director

Session 6: Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) / Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) Air MonitoringThis session will focus on early recognition of potential H2S gas exposure and the importance of monitoring to prevent exposure to lethal concentrations. The session will also cover monitoring LEL air levels.Conducted by: Gary O’Brien, President, O’Brien’s Safety Services, L.L.C.

Session 7: Oil Spill Cleanup / PreventionIn order to make sure your business is prepared, this session will include an overview of rules regarding reportable spills, proper use of booms, pads, peat sorb, “plug and dike” and proper disposal. OOGEEP spill kits will be provided to all participants (value: $150).Conducted by: ODNR Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management

IADC Rig Pass with Safeland USA TrainingThe International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Rig Pass-To-Go program will provide participants with a renewed outlook on the safety, health, and environmental issues oil and gas industry workers face every day. This course also provides the participant with the latest safety oriented training that is nationally recognized for land based operations. Each participant who completes this training will be assigned a unique identification card that is individually numbered and entered into a national data base for IADC Rig Pass with SafeLand USA. Each attendee will also receive the IADC Rig Pass participant guide (value: $100).Conducted by: Charlie Dixon, IADC Certified Instructor, OOGEEP Safety & Workforce Director Dan Marion, IADC Certified Instructor, Mid-East Career and Technology Center
