Military Teen Adventure CampJuly 20-25, 2014
Beulah Beach, Vermilion OhioA ‘Five Star’ Adventure on
Beautiful Lake Erie
MTAC Highlights Camp for 14- to 18-year-old youth from military families
across the country. 4th year of funding through the Department of Defense and
made possible through a partnership with Extension, Ohio University, and the National Guard.
Registration fees and travel costs for campers paid through the grant.
Majority of campers have no affiliation with Extension/4-H and most have no history of organized camping.
Builds connections to other military teens.
More about MTAC…. Campers participate six sessions, including:
1) kayaking, 2) sailing, 3) high ropes, 4) low ropes, 5)
geocaching, and 6) wilderness survival.
Campers also have other adventure activities 1) paintball,
2) zipline, 3) jet ski, 4) rock wall, and 5) giant swing over Lake
Erie.
The last full day of camp is spent at Cedar Point.
There are “typical” camp activities during free time and in the

Creative Arts Camp Photography, music, drama, scrapbooking and painting. Inspiration is throughout camp!
Shooting Sports Camp Campers of all knowledge and skill levels explore many different
aspects of the sport of shooting through practical, hands on sessions led by riflery and archery experts.
K-9 Camp Anyone can attend, but 4-H members taking a dog
project three years or more may bring their dog to camp

Details of the annual camp… WHO is camp designed for…. The campers!
*Beginning Level and Beginning Intermediate Level 4-H horse project members.
*4-H’ers who rude English and/or Western
*4-H’ers who enjoy trail riding, showing competitively, or just want to learn how to ride
WHO provides leadership of the camp?*Teen counselors provide part of the instruction for the campers. This is designed to
help the teens gain leadership experience while sharing expertise in their 4-H
project area.
*4-H volunteers and equine professionals who are interested in providing learning
experiences for 4-H Horse Project members.
Camp includes…. Combination of traditional camp activities such as crafts, games and
camp fire along with specific learning sessions that are horse related. Members are involved in the sessions geared toward where they are
currently at, along with their horse, in order to build from the foundation up.
It is a 24 hour camp- campers register ahead of time; arrive at 5:00-6:30pm with camp dismissing the following day by 7:00pm.
Cost is $35.00 which includes a t-shirt, meals and printed materials. Please contact Laura Rohlf, Program Coordinator, 4-H at
