OGDCL DRIVERS :

1. the Company reformed the strategy for updating its equipment base and undertook a very

aggressive work programme. This resulted in discovery of a number of oil and gas fields these include the Thora,Sono, Lashari, Bobi, Tando Alam & Dhodak oil/condensate fields and Pirkoh, Uch, Loti, Nandpur and Panjpir gas fields,thus giving the company a measure of financial independence.

2. OGDCL has an extensive database. Services of the Company’s highly qualified and skilled expertise in the fields of geology and geophysics are frequently availed by the local and foreign oil companies.

3. ODCL is also looking into the possibility of Exploration &Production opportunities and joint venture collaborations outside Pakistan.

4. OGDCL has a portfolio of 34 exploration licenses. It is the largest based on recoverable hydrocarbon reserves with 48 percent of oil reserves and 37 percent of gas reserves.

5. Company’s exploratory efforts yielded four (4) new oil and gas discoveries namely Soghri-1 & Jand-1 in district Attock, Punjab province and Jarwar-1 & Palli Deep-1 in district Tando Allah Yar, Sindh province

6. The Company has a sound equipment and operational base which includes drilling rigs, workover rigs, a geological field party, seismic crews, engineering centre, geological analysis laboratory, cementing units, wireline logging unit and data logging unit. OGDC follows its strategies to drive operational achievements of the company. 

7. strategies includes expanding exploratory efforts, maintaining committed exploration effort level, maintenance of distinct balance commercial portfolio of exploration blocks in order to hedge risk.

8. Different strategic techniques are employed to optimize production from existing fields, applied improved oil recovery techniques to accelerate exploration efforts.

9. The company has its own training centre called as Oil and Gas Training Institute for providing training to the company employees as well as to the professionals from foreign oil companies operating in Pakistan.

10. Enhancement of hydrocarbon production from owned and operated joint venture fields and completion of development projects.
