Dear Families Yesterday saw the release of the guidance on the full reopening of schools in September
I am sure that you will be aware as it was given much media attention - even before the event with much fanfare and speculation
What is immediately apparent is that we have to roll our sleeves up and rapidly embrace change
We are all keen to see our students back at school and engaging in their education Time is short but please be assured that we will do our utmost to ensure we are compliant and ready in good time
We know families may be cautious and that is completely understandable
We are aware of the situation in Leicester and in areas closer to home We have to appreciate that this is an evolving situation and we acknowledge that we must be prepared for all eventualities This is the right ambition
Senior leadership are ploughing through the requirements and preparing for the planning ahead
As a community I am confident we will get through this and reach the other side
Thank you for your continued support and your understanding of the challenges we face
God bless
Ms K Colligan Principal

St Peter and Paul
As I sit and write this weekrsquos reflection I am reminded that patience is a virtue - I donrsquot actually need absolute silence to work in when my daughter asks me a question then another and another as she constructs the solar system on the kitchen table - I know that I will be able to return to my work shortly As trials go it is more a minor inconvenience and I count my blessings that I am able to spend more time than usual with my children The fact that they each tend to inhabit different areas of the house is also a blessing
In considering the lives of St Peter and Paul this week we consider the great trials and tribulations they endured in the service of God and how many people in the present circumstances are having to bear their own crosses In the midst of difficult times it is hard to remember that God does not give us more than we can handle equally when we need Him the most we may often turn to questioning and blame Suffice to say being virtuous towards others comes easier when we are not beset by our own troubles There is hope for us though in the examples of St Peter and Paul openly denying Christ and actively persecuting Christians before becoming the foundations of the Church
And so as I wonder what today might bring to test my patience I shall also ask myself how I might answer Pope Francisrsquo reminder that
ldquoThe Lord asks everything of us and in return he offers us true life the happiness for which we were created He wants us to be saints and not to settle for a bland and mediocre existence
The Lord has chosen each one of us to be holy and blameless before him in loverdquo
God bless

We have really been enjoying our lessons with Year 10 it has been so lovely to see you all
We have received some really positive feedback from students who are happy to be back in the school community One student remarked how the sessions have given her a confidence boost
All the material we are using for the sessions is on Moodle and so anyone who has not been able to attend can catch up with it there
Yet again we have had some fabulous examples of work sent in from students well done especially to Leo in Year 10 and Imani and Jadon in Year 7
We received some very exciting news this week Ben in Year 7 was invited to be involved with a podcast for the Diocese on the Gospel of Matthew The podcast is available to listen to now on the Diocese of Leeds website under the subtitle Year of the Word It can then be found under the title St Matthewrsquos Gospel Unlocked the whole gospel is available with Ben reading Chapter 8 23-27 (Jesus stills the storm) which is about 4 minutes in
We are all very proud of him especially his Learning Tutor Mrs Horsfield and his RE teacher Miss Smith

Moodle - Additional Resources for Year 10
If your Year 10 child was unable to come into college last week for their scheduled sessions with English maths RE and science you can find additional resources that were used in these sessions on our Moodle page
We have saved it in the usual location MoodleCoronavirus Independent WorkbookYear 10Additional Materials
A message from the Achievement Coordinators This week we celebrate St Peter and Paul When we think of these Saints we think of their service to God and people They showed our virtues of courage love and respect At this time we have seen many people loving and serving others The pandemic has meant so many are in need of support in so many ways This time has brought the best out in some people we are very proud that many of our students have been volunteering and helping their families and in the community
If we were in school this next two weeks we would have been looking forward to events such as sports day Please make sure you log on to the virtual sports day which has been extended into next week and complete as many challenges as you can
Year 10 should have been attending college visits but as you already know these are being held virtu-ally We cannot stress enough how important it is for you to take these opportunities and register online We do not yet know how visits will take place next year so please take advantage of these sessions as current Year 11 have found them very useful
As there are only two weeks left of the current academic year please make sure you keep logging on to Moodle and complete the work set from your teachers Keeping up to date will make things much easier for you in September when we can all be together again
Your teachers and achievement coordinators are currently busy writing your end of year reports It has been really nice taking time to reflect on you all individually looking at your achievements in school and while you have been working from home
Remember to look after yourself and others Be kind and stay safe
