OFFSHORE SIMULATOR COURSES

The course is intended for Deck Officers who are new to the offshore industry and are required to acquire knowledge of the unique maneuvering characteristics of offshore support vessels. It provides familiarization on maneuvering systems and development of essential skills in maneuvering practices for offshore support vessels.

The focus of lessons & instruction covers review of ship The focus of lessons & instruction covers review of ship handling principles and essential aspects of berth planning and risk assessment; while the practical training consists of simulation exercises using full mission offshore simulator.

Further, the course highly contributes in meeting the training requirements specified in Section B/V(e) of the STCW Code, as amended.

The course aims to provide practical knowledge and skills to effectively and safely maneuver and handle offshore support vessel in conventional and Azimuth propulsion configurations.

The course deals with the following subject & training areas:

• Review of ship handling theory, including application of the pivot point.• Maneuvering skills in Conventional and in Azimuth Propulsion System •• Planned approaches to offshore facilities• Risk assessment and planning for entering the 500m safety zone• Machinery and power requirements in various situations/operations.• Introduction to joystick maneuvering and change- over procedures.•• Review of causal factors in OSV maneuvering incidents/accidents.

The course is open to all deck officers involved in offshore supply operations.

The conduct of the course delivery primarily employs lecture-presentation and series of practical exercises.

The practical activities & exercises consist of demonstration, simulator exercises with briefing/debriefing instruction using full mission offshore simulator.

A Certificate of Completion shall be given to those who have successfully completed the course.

The Worlds Most Advanced Simulator

K-Sim Offshore is specially designed to train in best practiceand to build competence even for demanding operations. It integrates an advanced physics engine, which in additionto advanced hydrodynamic modelling, allows vessels, objects and equipment to behave and interact realistically, improving the quality of training significantly.improving the quality of training significantly.

Realism in Simulated Vessel Models

K-Sim Offshore provides simulation of a range of hydrodynamicvessel and rig models with six degrees of motion, giving an excellent level of vessel motion accuracy. This is particularly important in advanced training scenarios, such as close proximity offshore operations, towing and search & rescue operations. Also important for enhanced realism, is that all operations. Also important for enhanced realism, is that all simulator vessel models have dynamic loading, ballast control and possible integration to load calculators.
