    MR. APRIL

The onset of spring seems to agree with longtime DET forward Tomas Holmstrom. The gritty Swede has put up stellar numbers in the

month of April in both the regular season (12G-13A-25P in his last 26 games) and playoffs (5G-8A-13P in his last 17 games) in recent

years. Holmstrom is off to a great start in this series, having tallied 3GP-1G-2A-3Pthus farwith his goal in Saturdays home victory

having been of the game-winning variety.

    DATSYUKIAN DOMINANCE

DET center Pavel Datsyuk had a day to remember in his teams Game 2 victory over the Coyotes. The dynamic two-way center set a

career playoff high by registering four points (1G-3A) in the 4-3 win, picking up First Star of the Game honors in the process. The

Russian-born playmaker has enjoyed tremendous success against Phoenix in recent years. His regular season career high for points in

a game (1G-4A-5P) also came versus the Coyotes (1/11/07 in Glendale), while he has recorded 17G-37A-54P in 34 combined

playoff/regular season games against Phoenix since 2005.

    BABCOCKS LEGACY GROWS

Red Wings bench boss Mike Babcock continues to stockpile accomplishments and accolades galore in his NHL coaching career. In

addition to having recently joined Scotty Bowman and Glen Sather as the only coaches to have won 300 games in a six-season span,

the Saskatoon, SK native is also adding to his already-impressive Stanley Cup Playoff wins total three games into Detroits 2011

championship drive. With a 3-0 record thus far in the Western Conference Quarterfinals, Babcock has now won 66 playoff games since

2003, more than any other coach in the NHL during that time. The 47-year-old is now one of the ten winningest coaches in NHL playoff
