Officers and Directors appointed BOMA BC

BOMA BC’s Officers and Directors were appointed after the Annual GeneralMeeting on April 27th. Greg Last (Triovest Realty Advisors) becomes Chair, LillianTummonds (Cadillac Fairview Corp.) is now Vice Chair, Natalie Bishop (ShonGroup Realty) was appointed Treasurer, and Susan Dodsworth (BGIS) remains onthe board as Past Chair. Oskar Kwieton (Shape Property Management) andClaude Nobauer (Control Solutions) joined the board.

BC Building Code Miscellaneous Revisions BOMA BC

Technical Bulletin 18-02 – Miscellaneous Revisions to the 2012 BC Building Code,is now available.

Key changes include:

More consistency between definitions for mechanical energy use intensity,total energy use intensity;A new appendix note on Floor Area;Clarification on area for assumed air leakage for Part 3 buildings; andClarification of the energy modelling reporting options in Division C.

The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) program is arating system that evaluates the level of meaningful access of buildings and sites.The Foundation has partnered with Vancouver Community College (VCC) to offeran RHFAC Accessibility Assessor Certification Training - Accelerated course (30hours) for architects, engineers, urban planners, or construction experts tounderstand and measure accessibility from the perspective of people withdisabilities.

Union Gospel Mission’s Annual Summer BBQ is theorganization’s largest celebration of the year,serving over 4,000 meals to the DowntownEastside (DTES). Each year the community gathersin Oppenheimer Park for a day of fun, deliciousfood, and relationship building. The DTES, home toapproximately 18,000 people, is one of Canada’spoorest neighbourhoods, where nearly half of theresidents are considered low-income. Here, manypeople face the all-too-real struggles of poverty,homelessness, and addiction. The Annual SummerBBQ is a family-friendly community celebration,where those in need can experience hope in aninclusive and relaxing environment.
