TRANSCRIPT
Dear Parents, Parents evening was once again very well attended – thank you! We are extremely proud of our children and how hard they work and it is lovely that we can work closely with parents to support the children throughout their learning journey. The X factor final was a nail biting event…our children really know their times tables. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to Mr. Goostry for organizing the event and giving up all his lunch times! Singletons Got Talent rehearsals are now well and truly underway. You are as always in for a real treat! The Foundation Stage children had a brilliant time at China Red celebrating Chinese New Year. Thank you, Mrs. Haigh and Miss Dolphin for giving up your Friday evening to organize such a lovely event for our children. I feel proud to work in a school where the staff is so dedicated to providing the best possible experiences for our children. In a small school with so few staff we really do rely on the good will of our staff team. Our staff truly want the best for all our children and I am very grateful for all the times they go above and beyond to make that happen! Keep an eye on the diary dates are there are a lot of up and coming events!

Sponsored Event
This year we will be holding our annual sponsored event on 21st April. It will be linked to the raising money for new playground toys as we do each year, but also we will be making a donation to the ‘Bethany Project’ which supports the Tanzanian Children that came to our school to sing in the Autumn term. Mrs Haigh and the school council have been discussing this and they feel strongly that this year they would like to support these children as they had such a big impact on us. Sponsor Forms will be sent out towards the end of this term.
Well done to all the children that took part. We are very proud of you all. Congratulations to our

http://www.singleton.lancs.sch.uk/ It is your responsibility to note diary dates! Please note that we try to inform you of diary dates/changes to dates well in advance so that you can plan ahead. We will not necessarily send out specific letters for every individual event as dates and times are quite clearly indicated in the monthly newsletter which gives up to 3 months’ notice. Miss Manning usually does try to send out reminder texts as an additional support to parents but this may not always happen during busy periods. However, all information is available on the website

SATS 2017
Our Year 6 and our Year 2 children have worked so hard over the past 12 months in preparation for their SATs. SATs this year start on Monday 8th May.
Year 2 children don’t have a set week of testing – all tests have to be carried out in the month of May. In the past our Year 2 children really were unaware that they were taking tests – however, the DfE changes have made the testing
protocols much more formal. We do however, despite this try and support the children and keep things as calm and normal as we can!
Please make sure that Year 2 and Year 6 children have outstanding attendance at this time – in order that we can fully support them and ensure that they reach their full potential
World Book Day 2017 Down’s Syndrome awareness day
. World book Day
Thursday 2nd of March is World Book Day. Mrs. Millward as Literacy Subject Leader feels that this is a very important day to celebrate a love of reading. This year on
this day all children should come to school dressed as a book character and bring with
them a copy of their favourite book.
Lots of Socks for Down’s syndrome day
Monday 20th of March is World Down’s Syndrome day. Our school council decide each year who / what charity we are going to raise money for and each year they feel very strongly that we support the charity for Down ’s syndrome. Down ’s syndrome International invites everyone across the world to wear LOTS OF SOCKS on 21 March 2016 to raise awareness on World Down’s Syndrome Day - See more at: https://www.worlddownsyndromeday.org/lots-of-socks#sthash.J9ahj2XY.dpuf. We ask that all the children wear socks in a creative way that day. School council will be collecting donations to support people with Down’s syndrome.
Singletons Got Talent 2017 Easter Reflections
Singletons Got Talent 2017
3rd
April - Singletons Got Talent 1.15pm This year we have been inundated with children
wanting to take part in ‘Singletons Got Talent.’ Mrs Haigh is thrilled that so many children are involved.
She will be working through her lunch times to give the children the opportunity to practice together. Please make sure that if your child is involved they
have their music and props available for the rehearsals.
Tickets can be purchased from the Office – more information to follow. The money raised from the tickets is used to buy the prizes for the event.
Mrs Haigh is going to develop a Stations of the Cross in our larger Woodland area this
year. The children have really benefited from the Stations of the Cross in the past as it is a
very thought provoking experience. The Forest Schools Club will be making outdoor
artifacts for this event as will Mrs. Millward’s Fantastic Friday group.
This will take place on Thursday 30th March and Friday 31st. Mrs Haigh will send out
information nearer the time for parents that would like to have quiet reflection time.
