COURSE OVERVIEWMany businesses employ safety coordinators to manage the regulations put in place to reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace. As an occupational health and safety co-ordinator, you will be responsible for managing safety and security systems, keeping yourself and your co-workers safe and clear of any dangers. This Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) (Coordinator in the Workplace): Proficiency Course will equip you with the skills needed to put safety systems in place, perform first aid, identify potential dangers, and visually display safety and health guidelines in and around the workplace. We also offer an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Representative in the Workplace Proficiency Certificate, which offers you the opportunity to become a legally compliant OHS representative and conduct post-event investigations.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?This course explains the purpose of occupational health and safety, and the rules andregulations involved. You will learn general health and safety rules, what to do in case ofemergency situations, and how to administer first aid in case of injury or trauma.

This module covers the basics of CPR, medical emergencies, and bodily injuries. You will learn the basic principles of first aid, how to do CPR, and what to do in case of a medical emergency or injury.

This module introduces you to the basics of communication, barriers to communication, and verbal and non-verbal communication. You will learn about different leadership styles, and how to deal with stress and conflict within the workplace. This module also covers diversity and politics within the workplace.

FIRSTAID

ORGANISATIONALCOMMUNICATION

This module will show you how todisplay safety and health guidelines inand around your workplace, increase the skills and knowledge required to maintain a safe workplace, and act in accordance with relevant legislation.

In this module, you will learn how toconduct inspections, initiate remedialaction; and follow up on pre-use, safety and/or audit inspections. At the end of the module, you will be able to conduct inspections, initiate action, and explain the legal and specified requirements of OHS.

SHEAWARENESS

SAFETY AND AUDIT INSPECTION

This module focuses on the legalrequirements for conducting hazardinsepctions and their associated risk assessments in a workplace. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to prepare and conduct continuous risk assessments, and you will learn how to initiate and follow-up on remedial action.
