skills: My first job in high school was at my local public library which gave me a special view of the challenges public libraries face. Since that time I have remained an active and enthusiastic public library patron, and an involved user of scholarly libraries from the British Museum to the Library of Congress. My graduate education has provided me with the creative and critical thinking skills that are'applicable to a variety of environments. My specialized knowledge is the delivery of information since I spend my days communicating to students. Being involved in a civil body such as the Library Board would allow me to utilize these skills. It is fortunate that our community has avenues such as these civic bodies in which citizens can participate and strengthen the neighbourhoods they live in.

I am familiar with the CEOs' strategic Plan and can appreciate what a challenge the next phase in London hlblic Library's life will be. "hubs" that enrich and empower citizens with high quality library services. libraries are an essential part of communities and would be pleased to assist LPL in meeting its objectives.

The plan identifies libraries as community I agree that

interest: I have always been impressed by the range of resources that of the City of London's Public Library system provides. I hope to assist LPL in its mission of continuing to deliver its services to London in an effective manner. In particular, I am interested in creating libraries that welcome a variety of citizens whose needs are diverse. For instance, the student who cannot afford a computer can always go the library and use a computer to complete essays and do research. As well, I know that the library provides ESL programs, adult literacy, story times; employment assistance with the ERCs; these services co-ordinate with the life-cycle of each citizen. I think it is important to provide service to those who need it most. contrib: I believe that my skills as a secondary school teacher, the problem solving and academic skills I achieved through my advanced degree, coupled with my enthusiasm would make me an ideal candidate for a library board position. I understand that the London Public Library system, as are other public libraries, is in a state of flux as it attempts to be relevant and keep up with the changes of today's technological world. My contributions would be connected to the challenges that LPL faces including maintaining the physical infrastructure, renewing the scope, depth and relevancy of collections, ensuring continued investment in technology, and investing in its staff. I can assist in identifying community concerns and ensuring that LPL's continues to reach its target patrons.

pastcont: Student representative on University of Alberta Department of History hiring committee; Community Member Red Deer & District Museum and Archives; Graduate Student Representative, History Department, University of Western Ontario exchange: The majority of my work experience has been in an environment where strong interpersonal skills are mandatory. within my professional community: Instructional Intelligence, Model UN Steering Committee and Assessment and Evaluation techniques. I also coach high school football and rugby. These activities draw heavily upon my skills in respecting and appreciating the contributions of a variety of people. intrview: yes emailadd :
