eRA which was part of the Division of Extramural Information Systems (DEIS) along with the Office of Reports and Analysis has joined to form the Office of Electronic Research and Report Management (OERRM). This Office is lead by it’s new director Dr. Israel Lederhendler.

The Commons Component of eRA
The Commons component of eRA is a virtual meeting place where NIH extramural grantee organizations, individual grantees, and the public can receive and transmit information pertaining to the administration of biomedical and behavioral research

NIH introduced the Commons idea of a single point of entry for grants-related transactions
NIH very committed to working closely with the grants.gov project
NIH has successfully received approximately 60 applications in pilot electronically, through the CGAP project

Submission of grant funding synopses to the government-wide repository for grant funding opportunities (FedBizOps)
Receipt of competitive grant applications via the grants.gov web interface• December 2005 SBIR receipt date to be the first live
