Educational instutions require interior furnishings that are tough, easy to maintain,
ergonomically designed, aesthetically pleasing, and economical—a tall order, which
our experience and sourcing breadth uniquely qualify us to fulfill. That’s why universities,
colleges, high schools and elementary schools throughout Vermont, northern New York,
northern New Hampshire, and western Massachussetts have turned to Office Environmentsfor projects ranging from ergonomic seating standards to the largest installation of
movable wall systems in northern New England. This portfolio presents several projects
we’ve recently completed for educational institutions. rev. 2/2010

Office Environments worked directly with
the the architect and the University’s
Architecture and Engineering services to
conduct sit comfort and durability tests
with over 270 faculty, staff and students.
Our products placed first and second in
sit comfort, first in construction and first
in design. We integrated other products
from our range with seating to produce
spaces evincing aesthetics ranging from
Vermont traditional to contemporary.

In this largest installation
of movable walls in northern
New England, we created 71 office
spaces on 4 floors for the UVM
College of Medicine. This permits
the College to change office config-
urations as their needs change,
without the demolition and waste
inherent in conventional construc-
tion. According to analysis by the
University’s Architecture and
Engineering services, the cost of
this LEED project was equivalent to
that of conventional construction.

Castleton State College required the best
possible value in this LEED project—highly
durable furniture at a realistic price.
Office Environments worked in collabora-
tion with the Student Government
Association and the Dean of Student Life
to choose fabrics and finishes consistent
with their aesthetic goals. The College is
very happy with the look and the durabil-
ity of the products and finishes.
