Speakers Corner

Have You Been Scammed?“Scam — A dishonest scheme; fraud. Origin 1960s: of

unknown origin”There are probably two types of Probus members

— those who have been scammed, and those who have not yet been scammed.

Our speaker in October is Scott Worsley a customer service officer with the Department of Fair Trading.

Fair Trading receives over 45,000 complaints a

year and Scott could be working on over 30 files at any point of time.

Scott will identify the types of scams and explain how we can avoid them and our consumer rights

Peter Style, Speaker CoordinatorWelfare Report

Neville Cleary is obviously up and about following shoulder surgery … he was full of beans at last week’s Probus luncheon. No other news to report … hopefully, no news is good news.

Activities

Bowls ReportIt’s that time again. The months flick past,

eh? Missed out on one Thursday ‘cos of rain, and only a few the next week, then the “Murray” cruise pinched a few regulars, so a fairly quiet month.

I often mention the greens, well the last few weeks we’ve been having our “rollup” on a BROWN! Number 3 green has been sown with Tipdwarf, a new grass for Seaforth, and from 50 metres away it looks brown. When you stand on it and look down you can see the green, but not conspicuous. It’s great though, true and fast and enjoyable.

I’m sure that’s enough from me, your Organiser and Handicapper …

Walk time — Approximately one hour.Grade –- Easy.Facilities — Toilets and taps at Jamieson Park.Parking — Free parking.Enquiries — Michael Draper 0417 239 293.

Interest Groups Technology Workshop

The Technology Workshop provides assistance to members in overcoming the vagaries of iPads and iPhones with some success, followed by coffee.

The group is deliberately limited to a small number, however anyone interested should contact Gavin Kerr, 9960 4517.
