A VERY “SPECIAL” SHELBY

By Joice Lange

This car caught my eye at the Kiwanis car show in 2017 and three days later I bought

it from a fellow Copperstate member.

It's a very low production Shelby made in 2008 and had only 25,000 miles when I

purchased it. There were only 215 of these Shelby’s produced for the southern Cali-

fornia dealers and offered only in Grabber Orange with silver stripes. The list price

was approximately $49K. Mine has a 5-speed manual transmission, with 319 HP.

All 215 of these cars have GT-C identifi-

ers and were signed by Carroll Shelby.

Mine is number 33 of 215 made.

On October 2nd, it won a Top Three

Award at the First Friday Car Show in

Apache Junction!

(For more information on the 2008 Shelby

GT-C, see the article from the August

2020 Mustang Times, reprinted here on

pages 4 and 5).

COPPERSTATE INFORMATION

Be sure to contact an officer or board member for the many benefits

of belonging to The Copperstate Mustang Club!

MEETING MINUTES

The Board meeting was held at the outdoor patio of the Mellow Mushroom in Mesa. Social distanc-

ing protocols were observed. Those present were Phyllis, JoAnn, Alyce, Kathy, Joice, Dan, John

and Bob.

After a positive response (all positive, no negative votes) to the recent proposal, due to the Covid-19

pandemic, the current Board will continue for the 2021 year. In addition, all Copperstate Mustang

Club members whose dues have been paid for 2020 will be automatically considered paid and their

membership renewed for the 2021 calendar year. Thanks to Bill Rohr for volunteering to be on the

board.

JoAnn gave the treasurer report ending September 30. Club insurance was paid, post box rental and

a supply reimbursement was paid. There was no Church rental as we have unable to have meetings

there since March. As the post office box fees continue to rise, another location is being explored.

A new location for general meetings is being checked out with possibilities of Denny’s restaurant

and 5 and Diner. The Desert Breeze Park will likely be location for our Pancake breakfast in Febru-

ary. The old location was uneven ground, which caused one person to fall last year. In addition,

there were no working restrooms or water. The new location will be flat ground, electricity for the

grill, water, and a restroom close by. The lease should be signed this week. The Ramada can handle

76 people. The date will be the second Sunday of February.

The Pizza Party will be on November 14th at 6pm at the Mellow Mushroom located on Stapley

Drive in Mesa. We will dine on the outside patio, where social distancing can be followed. The

Club pays for the pizza as per usual.

Club President Phyllis would like to have all members provide the Month and Day of their birthday

so cards can be sent. Business cards for Copperstate have not yet been received from Larry Miller

Ford.

EVENTS: Oct 10 American Legion Post 35 on 2240 W Chandler Blvd will have a car show from 9-

2. Oct 11 is Birthday 86 for founding member Gerald Young. A drive-by party will be held. Call

Dan for information and time.602-828-8340.

This year’s Toys for Tots show has been cancelled by Streetside Classics. The Tucson MCA show

has also been cancelled. The club is looking into a future cruise to Tucson to the refurbished Am-

trak Train Station, followed by lunch at a restaurant.
