Distracted Driving Part 1
According to a 2009 report from the Na onal Highway traffic Safety Administra on, one out of every 5 car crashes causing an injury in-volved some element of distracted driving, and 16% of all fatal automobile accidents involved distracted driving.
Sta s cs show that taking your eyes off the road for just two seconds can double your risk of a crash. For example, a report by the FMCSA found that sending or receiving a text takes a I N D E P E N D E N T

driver’s eyes off the road for an average of 4.6 sec-onds, the equivalent of blindly driving an en re foot-ball field at 55 MPH.
Despite the well documented dangers of distracted driving, it con nues to pose a serious problem. How-ever, as a recent ar cle points out, it’s not just cell phones that are causing problems on our roadways.
Next month we will get into more on this.
Keep the shiny side up and ride safe

Bear Pit BBQ Today’s Ride will be led by Rick 2 to his Favorite BBQ restaurant called, “The Bear Pit”. This place has been in Mission Hills probably before I was born! LOL I always get the pork ribs with bbq beef sandwich on their famous garlic bread toast so get prepared for a great lunch!
I’m sure Rick 2 will have a pre y awesome route for us today to enjoy the beau ful weather we have been having so it will be nice to have that warm air in your face!
Answer: Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire
cancer event going on and the town was packed with par cipants for the event. Judging be the line at the Spot I thought it would take forever and we would have no sea ng, but it wasn’t that bad and everyone pre y much sat togeth-er. Great ride and great day with everyone!
Our third ride was a er our General Mee ng to Wrightwood. Des na on, “The Grizzly Cafe”. Wrightwood is always a nice ride going up the mountain roads which are so beau ful and having some ght switchbacks. The eleva on makes this ride nice and cool. The group sat outside on the pa o which made it real nice to enjoy the weather and sit all together while enjoying our lunch with great conversa on!
Our first ride of the month was led by Dave to a beau ful place through Kennedy Meadows. This is my favorite ride for the most beau ful scenic ride our club has ever been on. Although this was a 400 mile plus endurance ride, it was well worth it. We are here to enjoy rides and everything that it offers along the way and let me tell you this ride had it all. Thank you Dave for taking us on one of the best routes IRUSA has been on!
Our second ride went to a place that I have been going to since I was 15 years old called “The Spot”. This is a li le hamburger dive in a popular beach town called Carpen-taria. Li le did we know there was a breast
Our fourth ride went to Reno for their Street Vibra ons Bike Run. This was a 4 day trip that was absolutely spectacular! Our first day we rode up and just se led in and did some venders in town. Day 2 we got up bright and early and went to an old western town in the mountains called Virginia City and just had a ball there. In the evening we did more venders and went to a great Buffet for dinner. Day 3 took us to Lake Tahoe! This was probably the best day of all. Sco knew the area very well so he wanted to show us all the sights around the lake. He showed us Emerald Bay and also took us through Truckee and Donner Pass which their museum there was so cool! Thank you Sco for showing us all the sights and history around that area!
