Scratch-built

Diamond T

Wrecker Dave (D9) Falk is in the homestretch of completing his 1/25th scale scratch-built model of a 4 ton World War II era Diamond T Wrecker. Based on photographs and measurements taken of the truck pictured, and operator’s manual drawings, Dave has turned his scratch-building skills loose on this project. Practically 100% scratch-built from sheet, tube and rod form styrene, this project has dozens of working

features and super detailed components that would put any Tamiya or Dragon model kit to shame, if one even existed in this scale. Dave has designed a method to heat form his own styrene front fenders, he has formed “open” louvers in the hood sides and inner fenders, wired and plumbed the engine, fabricated articulating suspension and many other components right down to the actual bolt patterns holding the pieces together. Look for a photo shoot of the completed model in an upcoming issue of this newsletter. In the mean time, check out this collection of shots taken during the build process.
