October 18, 2016 We were greeted at the money table by Bob Westendorf and Ron Dabney. Jim Eger led us in the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Invocation was given by Ken Tarvin. ATTENDANCE: Actives= 40 Prospectives = 1 Speakers = 2 TOTAL = 43 The meeting was called to order by Mike Kahsar, newly elected Attorney General of the 6th Division, who was filling in for our ailing President Paul Brettschneider. HEALTH & WELLNESS: We welcomed Paul Brettschneider back from a recent heart attack, and Bill Sachs back from knee replacement surgery. GLAD HANDER: Tony Michel presented Paul Brettschneider a can of almond nuts.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Kiwanis One Day is Saturday October 22nd. Cheviot Westwood Kiwanis

has signed up to help with the Great Miami River Cleanup at the Shawnee

Lookout Marina.

Mike Kahsar reminded us to volunteer to help at the Wesley Community

Center next Tuesday 10/25.

The following Committees are in need of Chairpersons for the coming

year: PROGRAM; AGRICULTURE; & SPIRITUAL AIMS.

INDUCTION:

Dave Ulrich introduced our newest

member Bill Shuff. Bill is a retired realtor,

past owner and founder of the West Side

Racquet Club and longtime Western Hills

resident. He is the newest member of the

Kiwanis Bridge Club and has many friends

who are members of the Cheviot

Westwood Kiwanis Club.

TODAY’S PROGRAM:

Dick Braun introduced our speakers Sue Lamb and Mary Hackett from

United Healthcare-Medicare Solutions. They are certified and specialize

in helping people select and understand Medicare and medical insurance

coverage to supplement Medicare. Medicare eligibility consists of any US

citizen over the age of 65, or under the age of 65 if they have a qualifying

disability. Medicare Part A

deals with hospital services,

Medicare Part B deals with

physician services, and

Medicare Part D deals with

Prescription drug coverage.

Part C consists of

Supplemental, and Advantage

plans which can be purchased

from private insurance companies to fill the gaps in Medicare coverage.
