St. Patrick’s of Tekamah:

“My God will supply whatever you need…” - PHILLIPPIANS 4:19-

God really does provide for those who are grateful and generous. This is very difficult for people that don’t live a stewardship lifestyle to believe. People are skeptical and say it’s just coincidence. If you are skeptical, try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts of time, talent and treasure and see how God provides for your needs. . Children’s good deed: “I made dinner with my sister; I played with my neighbors without arguing; I took my dogs for a walk .”

Prayer for Harvest

Almighty Lord God, You keep on giving abundance to mankind

in the dew of heaven, and food out of the richness of the soil. We

give thanks to Your most gracious majesty for the fruits of the

field which we have gathered. We beg of You, in Your mercy, to

bless our harvest, which we have received from Your generosity.

Preserve it, and keep it from all harm. Grant, too, that all those

whose desires You have filled with these good things may be

happy in Your protection. May they praise Your mercies forever,

and make use of the good things that do not last in such a way

that they may not lose those goods that are everlasting, through

Christ our Lord. Amen

From Fr. Kevin… On this 28

th Sunday in Ordinary, both our first

reading from the Prophet, Isaiah, and our

Gospel from St. Matthew speak of our gracious

God Who welcomes us to a feast. In the first

reading (Isaiah 25:6-10a) it is a feast of “juicy,

rich food and pure, choice wines”. In the Gospel

(Mt. 22:1-14) it is a wedding feast. Our

Heavenly Father is a God Who provides

lavishly, a God Who destroys death, and wipes

the tears from every face. He is on our side; He

is for us; He is with us in a unique way in

Jesus; He is a God Who Loves us. He calls to

us, “The feast is ready; come to the feast”. This

is experienced in a particular way in every

Roman Catholic Eucharist. There can be at

times a challenge to recognize the daily

invitations of God in our life. Truth be told,

sometimes we fail to recognize God’s

invitations offered to us in prayer, or recognize

His voice in other people, or in situations.

Sometimes we reject or ignore his personal

invitations to us. To know God is to love him.

To love him is to desire to recognize Him and

desire to obey him. God wants each of us to

experience the “Wedding Feast” of His Son,

Jesus. Is there someone I know whom I would

like to invite to celebrate Sunday Mass with

me? Invite them to the feast. Peace, Fr. Kevin

Your support of the The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is appreciated. If you have not done so, please prayerfully consider making a contribution. Every gift, no matter how large or small makes a difference. These are the financial (goals/gifts made) for each parish to date: St. Patrick - $5,473.12 $3,402.00 (87%)

Holy Family - $2,370.89 $1,527.00 (64.4%)

Thank you for your generous contribution!

FAITH FACT

Banquet Jesus’ parable about a banquet challenges his audience to respond to his invitation to join the new kingdom community. He describes the practice of using meals to make a public statement about one’s social status. When invited guests (like the Jewish leaders in his audience) dishonor the host (God) and refuse his invitation and mistreat his messengers (Moses and the prophets), he is angry and shows his contempt for those who refuse by inviting those Jesus’ audience thinks of as the dregs of society (non-Jews). Matthew adds that those who are invited (non-Jews) can still be thrown out if they are not prepared with the proper behavior. Just for Today : ♦Just for today, I will be grateful I live in a society and time in which

I don’t have to do back-breaking work in horrible circumstances. And

I will be thankful I work in free country where no one is forcing me to

work.

♦Just for today, I will feel happy I am at work, alive and well, and not

in a combat trench or in a hospital awaiting surgery. (Wall Street Journal – to be continued.)
