Wow! Summer is over. It has been ahot one. Did it go fast, or is it just me.

We had our last picnic on the backpatio Labor Day. We had a greatturnout. I want to thank all thevolunteers. They did an awesome jobserving over 160 meals. Knock on wood, theLodge has been Covid free. I have not heardof a case by any of our members who comein on a regular basis, nor have we had anyon the Hill, our visiting members.

Our next big event is the Charity Ball.See the Elks Tale for details.

My name is Cary Lopez, and it is an honor to benominated for the 2021-2022 Charity Queen. I havebeen married to my husband Vince for 22 years, wehave a 20-year-old son who is in his 3rd year ofcollege, and I have a 35-year-old stepson who ismarried with 3 wonderful boys.

As my son went off to college, I stayed busy withPTA, still helping with the high school football, andmy grandkids’ activities. Then, in 2020 Vince startedto volunteer in the Elks kitchen since we didn’t have a cook anymore, and the next thing you know I washere every weekend prepping, cooking, cleaning upand I wasn’t even a member yet. I finally became anElks member in April 2021, immediately joined theHouse Committee, and was named Elk of the Monthfor April. I have been volunteering in the kitchensince Bingo started, most Friday and Saturdaydinners, helped get the Sunday breakfast started, helping where I am needed at the picnics andwhatever else comes along for an Elk to do.

Thank you for your consideration. Love yourfamily and be kind to others.

Linda Berry, nominated for Charity Ball Queen.Linda stepped up to be the candidate for the

Ritual Team contest. Linda volunteered to go throughinitiation with the new members being initiated.

Linda assisted John Berry, Loyal Knight, with theFourth of July Picnic which was a great success.

Linda has volunteered at:Bingo – selling bingo cards, offering and

providing tea and water when members could notserve themselves, delivering food to tables on Bingonight, making salads.

Linda has served at:Memorial Day Picnic/BarbecueFather’s Day Picnic/BarbecueLinda has helped set up, serve and tear down

after the Fourth of July Picnic and the Elks Picnic.Great ambassador when explaining Elks to

people in the community who are not Elk members. On Lodge nights that are not initiation, Linda

collects money for Clem Audin or Westy Relief.Friendly to visitors at our Lodge and friendly to

members.

Charity Queen Nominee

Hi – I am Rhonda OvermanThank you for nominating me for Charity Ball

Queen. The first year I was a member of the Lodge, I was the candidate for the Ritual Team. I have alsovolunteered at the summer picnics, Rockies games forElk and Pioneer functions, hoop shoots luncheon, funerals, Bingo dinners, Friday night dinners andSunday morning breakfasts. I have also donated tovarious out reach programs.

Outside of the Elks, I collect hotel samples andtake them to the Karlis Family Center. I believe that ifyou belong to the Elks, you should volunteer. Thereare so many volunteer opportunitys. Find one andvolunteer so that our Elks Club will thrive.
