NEWSLETTER October 2013
HI Everyone, I’m now doing the newsletter so please forgive this edition! I’ve never edited anything before so it’s a steep learning curve for me. If any of you ever have anything you’d like included please email it to me at
[email protected] I’ll even learn how to include any photos that get sent in!
Cheers, Suzanne Holden
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING.
Please remember that there is the SGM being held during lunchtime this rally. There are some very important items that need to be voted on, especially the Rules of Incorporation. There have been several emails sent out explaining the items. Please be ready when called and prepared to “do your duty”!
C CERTIFICATE
Congratulations to Kimberley Machell, Kate Collinge and Courtney Allison. All passed their C Certificates with flying colours. Well done to all!!
WORKING BEE
A date has been set for our working bee. It will be held on 16th November 2013. 9am to 12pm. This will be a really important working bee as we have set the date for our Horse Trials as 30th Nov and 1st Dec.
MPPC HORSE TRIALS
Talking of our horse trials -‐ it’s going to be huge!!! We’ve decided to do it over 2 days rather than 1 and to include open sections as well as pony club. This should greatly increase the number of entrants and hence profit for the club. It will be hard work, but it should be a really great fundraiser and after everyone’s efforts at Mini
Mornington, we know we can do it!! There will be a twilight set up from 4pm on Friday 29th, so please keep that weekend free
Every member will need to help out where possible. All entries are being done online via eventsecretary.org.au. I have attached the event flyer with all the details. Please spread the word and join the Facebook page to be kept
up to date with all details. https://www.facebook.com/events/481694795260032/
CANTEEN & OTHER JOBS ON RALLY DAY
Please make sure you check the duty roster when it comes out to see when you are rostered to help in the
canteen, toilets etc.
LUNCHTIME MEETINGS
Please make sure you attend the lunchtime meetings -‐ adults as well as riders as there is always lots to tell you.
We are a relatively small club this year, so we need everyone on board, helping out and having fun together
DO’S AND DON’T’S FOR PONY CLUB
DO make sure that your horses and ponies have access to fresh water at break time and lunchtimeDON’T ride or lead horses in the area where we walk into clubhouse and have our lunchtime meetings.
DO ride at a sensible speed when in the car park area.
DO make sure that you remain at pony club the entire time your child is there.
DON’T leave another adult in charge of your child without writing a note of exactly who is responsible for your
child in your absence, including their contact details. This note must be passed to the DC in person.
DON’T tie horses or ponies to floats that are not attached to cars. Most horses and ponies have the ability to pull a float over if they pulled back and there is no car to weigh the float down.

KEYS TO THE GROUNDS Keys to the grounds are available for purchase at each rally. Please see Mark Armstrong for details.
UNIFORM
We go by daylight savings as to whether it is summer or winter uniform, so Summer Uniform for this rally please. If the weather is not great, you may of course wear a jacket to keep warm.
Summer uniform is MPPC polo top, same joddies and joddie boots. In the cooler summer months, you may wear a long sleeved white T shirt underneath the polo top.
Jumping vests are compulsory at MPPC for jumping lessons.
When out competing, we ask that when competing as a Team, you all wear the same uniform for each phase.
For dressage, it is traditional to wear the shirt, tie and jumper, however the polo tops can look incredibly smart when tucked
in and worn with a belt.
For cross country and show jumping, you may wear either the summer or winter uniform.
We have been advised that Rat catchers are now acceptable to wear, but that XC silks may only be worn if they are
predominantly in the club colours.
ATTENTION ALL RIDERS Would all riders PLEASE respond to Karen Hayes monthly email about attendance. Karen has to work out the rally plan for each rally. This is impossible to do when families do not notify her if they are attending or not. This month she did not hear back from 15 families. Please show respect for the great (and time consuming) job she does!!
RALLY PLAN Please be aware that it is club policy that all riders wear a back protector when jumping.
Pink Group are more than welcome to stay in the afternoon if they wish to join in the riding activities.
