1. (Popular) Description of deliverable The following deliverable describes the popular dissemination materials for the project, originally planned to be pamhplets, brochures, and e-newsletters. The goal of the project is among others the popular transfer of knowledge, particularly to increase the participation of stakeholders and user awareness of OCEAN-CERTAIN. In order to achieve this, dissemination materials will be targeted and adapted to all audiences, each of which is approached in appropriate forums by using appropriate media. These materials are produced as part of the activities under WP6: Dissemination. As stated in the DOW, the objectives of Workpackage 6 - Dissemination are to ensure:

1) The facilitation of the direct participation of the key stakeholders through network building where the presence of WOC, as a partner of the consortium, is a very significant factor that accelerates the network building (WP1, 3, 4 and 5);

2) The efficient dissemination of and communication about the project and its results to the broader audience (KDTG).

a) The efficient dissemination and communication about the project and its results to the wider global and interdisciplinary scientific community, including natural scientists, oceanographers, social scientists, computer scientists, economists etc.;

b) The efficient dissemination and communication about the project and its results to the general public.

3) The efficient communication between the categorized audience and the project participants on the project results. Such a communication channel is critically important for collecting the feedbacks and improving the project results.

4) A sustainable communication strategy beyond the project’s lifetime. Through a variety of dissemination materials, WP6 intends to facilitate the achievements of the above objectives, including the contributions of all partners and stakeholders. 2. Dissemination materials Though the original plan of the proposal was to use pamphlets, brochures and e-newsletters, this method of dissemination has been antiquated as tools of dissemination in recent years. Therefore, we have complemented these with effective tools of dissemination, including Twitter and Facebook accounts, a functional webpage that is “alive” with its own blog section as well as the traditional newsletters – both in electronic and paper format. The project also has a poster with tear offs for student recruitment – but it can also be adjusted for popuar dissemination at events, both public and scientific. 3. Target Groups OCEAN-CERTAIN expects to have several stakeholder groups interested in the results of the current project. Given this, the dissemination results will be targeted towards the following groups, as specified in the DOW:

b) Key stakeholders i. experts from Member States Competent Authorities such as

1. European Environment Agency (EEA), 2. Regional Sea Commissions (e.g. UNEP-MAP, HELCOM,

4. Dissemination Strategies and Tools

4.1 Introduction In order to spread word about OCEAN-CERTAIN results, the project uses different tools, many of which were detailed in D6.1 Project Dissemination Plan and D6.2 Website homepage with restricted area for project administration. The webpage of Ocean Certain was developed by Chicken Scratch Designs over the course of the first 6 months of the project. The results are www.oceancertain.eu and the website is under continuous development. The webpage will help disseminate the project results, and make these available to the popular audience, which falls under c-iv above – general public. The webpage is also a critical tool for disseminating to the scientific community (a). Along with the web-site is also a direct feed from the blog into a Facebook page for the project (www.facebook.com/oceancertain) which in turn feeds into the ocean certain Twitter page (www.twitter.com/oceancertain). In addition to these social media tools, however, the project will also disseminate results through other methods, including posters and newsletters. 4.2 Tools used to ensure efficient uptake of disseminated materials

1. Digital Media: Project website as outlined in D6.2 (including social media); 2. Newsletter as outlined and reported in D6.5; 3. Power Point template for use in all presentations at conferences and

meetings, both formal and informal as reported in D6.3; 4. Logo for use in all communication and presentations of results, as reported

in D6.3; 5. Fact Sheet, published and downloadable at oceancertain.eu; 6. Posters used at academic and public events where promotion of the project

is suitable.
