I was actually in school,” she said. “I’m finishing my master’s degree in education, so I didn’t know anything until I was leaving the class.” Eardley, the top vote-getter with 3,260 votes, said she looks forward to learning the ropes and getting more involved in the community. “I’m looking for- ward to ensuring a really good edu- cation for my kids and everyone else’s kids,” Eardley said. Board President Venki Palamand told the Call he believes Eardley will bring a fresh perspective to the board as both a young parent in the district and a teacher. Fedorchak, who Superintendent Eric Knost said was viewed as an incumbent, was initially selected to fill a vacancy on the board last June after Micheal Ocello resigned. He received the second highest number of votes, 2,849, according to unofficial elec- tion results. Kathleen Eardley was the top vote-getter, while Mike Wainz received 2,645 votes and Fred Padberg garnered 1,895 votes. The district requested rezoning on prop- erty at Lemay Ferry and Ringer roads for a facility that would house administrative offices, 32 buses and be used for light bus maintenance. County Planning Commission Chairman Wayne Hilzinger said increased traffic was the commission’s main concern. “The concern is the traffic congestion in that area,” he said, “and that basically was the only concern, trying to put 32 more buses coming in (and) out of a difficult area already.” The Planning Commission voted unani- mously last week to deny the school district’s (See DENY, Page 14A) Ron Fedorchak By KARI WILLIAMS Staff Reporter A member of British Parliament visited Jefferson Barracks last week to learn more about the Missouri National Guard. Schuster led school board candidates in votes in the April 3 election, garnering 2,806 votes, or 32.11 percent. Holloway narrowly won the second seat on the Board of Education, receiving 2,460 votes, or 28.15 percent, just ahead of George Rezabek’s 2,445 votes, or 27.98 percent. A fourth candidate, James Goss, received 1,000 votes, or 11.44 percent.
