WHY CHOOSENZIOS

t NZIoS

New Zealand is repeatedly voted one of the world's most peaceful countries according to the Global Peace Index. With a population of 4.5 million people, New Zealand is really diverse. The indigenous Maori people were the first inhabitants of Aotearoa and today New Zealanders come from all over the world, including the Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.

New Zealand welcomes everyone, practises all forms of religion, and enjoys political debate and freedom of speech. New Zealand was the first country in the world to give women the vote and we are proud to be nuclear free!

WELCOME TONEW ZEALAND

New Zealand education is becoming increasingly international in character, driven by trends, which include the information and communications technology revolution, employment markets transcending national borders, and a globally mobile population of students, teaching staff and researchers.

The New Zealand education system is based on guiding principles including quality-assured and portable education qualifications, and the provision of flexible pathways for study. National policies and quality assurance provide continuity and consistency

QUALITY EDUCATION

across New Zealand's education system.

The New Zealand Government-administered Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students is designed to ensure that a consistent, high standard of pastoral care is provided to all international students.

A beautiful piece of paradise in the South Pacific, New Zealand is a country of contrasts. From tropical forests to white sand beaches and towering mountains to bubbling hot springs, the scenery is spectacular. Then there are New Zealand's modern and vibrant cities bursting with world-class restaurants, galleries, theatres and museums. You can ski, sail, hike, sky dive and mountain bike your way around the country. Or simply enjoy the relaxed lifestyle and clean air that Kiwis take for granted.

Some Auckland facts

Auckland is New Zealand's biggest city - around one third of the country's population lives here, about 1.4 million people. It's also the largest Polynesian city in the world. According to Mercer Quality of Living survey, Auckland is currently ranked as the third best city to live in the world. Auckland's major businesses include information and computer technology, biotechnology and the creatvie industries, Health, construction, viticulture and food manufacturing are also important industries.

Auckland is often called the city of sails because the harbour is full of hundreds of yachts. In fact, there are more yachts per person than in any other city in the world.

Unbeatable lifestyle

Where else can you go sailing, horse riding, hiking, surfing, paddle boarding or mountain biking all within an hour of a bustling, modern city? In Auckland you get the best of both worlds – big city style and a stunning natural playground.

Auckland is rated the third most liveable city in the world in the Mercer Quality of Living scale. It is consistently ranked one of the world’s best places to live, not just for its huge variety of activities, but for its cleanliness, infrastructure, people and climate.

Taste

It’s never far between a good café or restaurant in Auckland and the city is a haven for discerning travellers who place strong emphasis on a local gourmet experience. As well as a thriving coffee culture – think ‘flat white’, the legendary Kiwi coffee invention – the quality and choice of locally sourced produce underpins exceptional dining experiences at the hands of world acclaimed chefs. Auckland also has more than 80 vineyards producing chardonnay, syrah, merlot and cabernet sauvignon wines – so wine tasting, on picturesque Waiheke Island, on the outskirts of west Auckland and around Matakana to the north and the Clevedon Valley, south, is a popular pastime.

NZUP (New Zealand University Preparation) is an independent NZQA programme allows NZIOS to deliver NCEA through partnership with RBHS(Rotorua Boys High School)

At Rotorua BHS Auckland Campus, we offer our students the National Certificate of Education Achievement Level3 (NCEA Level3). This is the most common path for New Zealand school-leavers to gain entrance to universities or the work market. Students will be required to take up to six subjects, where in each subject, students’ skills and knowledge will be assessed against internal and external assessments. Upon the successful achievement of each standard, credits will be awarded.

OUR FEATURESAn ‘Outcomes ‘approachCompare to other educational system, NCEA is an ‘outcomes’ approach to defining what is to be achieved, reducing the emphasis on external, end-of-year examinations, abolishing all statistical scaling and increasing the reliance on school-based moderation for assessment purposes.

• Good FlexibilityNCEA blurs the distinction between academic studies and those associated with vocational education and training. Students are able to select learning elements and can ‘mix and match’ academic and vocational standards from a vast range of Standards.

• International recognizedNCEA level 3 certificate is internationally recognised by Australia, England, the USA, Germany and most European countries.

• English Requirement:Students do not need an IELTS Certificate to enter into the NCEA Level 3 Programme. However, students will be required to undergo an internal placement test. To enrol onto the programme students must successfully pass the test. Students who do not pass the placement test will be enrolled in the NCEA Pre-Term class. Students holding an IELTS certificate with an overall band score of 5.0 or above will be considered for direct entry onto the NCEA normal term.

National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA Level 3)

The subjects we offer are presented below:

M.C.S.(Mathematics/ Calculus /

Statistics)

Chinese

Digital Technology

Physics

Biology

This course is designed to provide statistical and general mathematical skills. Statistical content includes analysis of bivariate data and formulating a formal inference and associated statistical methods. The ability to communicate findings in the form of a written report is important. Probability and probability models are a significant part of the course. The mathematics topics involve problem solving with systems of equations, networks and linear programming

At NCEA Level 3, students build on the knowledge that they have gained from prior learning in other Chinese environments. By the end of the year they will be confident conversing in Chinese and should also be proficient communicating and interacting in each of the key competencies of reading, listening, speaking and writing. This course aims to fulfil the objectives of Level 8 of the Curriculum through the communicative approach.

This course establishes a structure of study, consistent with University/Tertiary pathways, in Digital Information and Digital Media Outcomes at an advanced level. Each of these areas provides a range of varied activities in design and development for realistic purposes utilising advanced Information and Communications Technology concepts. An emphasis will be on design, decision making, problem solving, innovation, brief development, technical competency and presentation (including developing the requisite skills in using Operating Software and Application Software.)

Geography is the study of the environment as the home of people. It seeks to interpret the world and how it changes over time – past, present, and future. It explores the relationships and connections between people and both natural and cultural environments. Geography investigates the ways in which features are arranged on the earth’s surface. It describes and explains the patterns and processes that create them. Students learn to think spatially and use maps, visual images and new technologies to obtain, present and analyse information.

This course is designed for students interested in studying sciences, engineering, medicine and veterinary science at tertiary level and other physics related technical studies at diploma level. This course features the main themes mechanics, waves, electricity and modern physics.

In this course students will be able to study plant responses and animal behaviour, biotechnology, evolution, and speciation. Students will also have the opportunity to further develop their investigative and research skills. As well as being highly relevant, this course is useful, and often essential, for students intending to enter tertiary studies in nursing, medicine, veterinary science and/or similar fields. University Entrance requires students to have 14 level 3 Biology credits. This means they should sit at least one, preferably two, externally assessed standards.

Level 3 English is designed to equip students with a range of tools that will prepare them for life at University level. Critical engagement and thought being a highly important skill at university. Students will also be taught how to strengthen their writing through a range of formal and creative approaches. They will construct a writing portfolio throughout the year that will showcase their ability as well as providing tangible evidence of their progress. To be successful in this course, students will feel confident in their ability to interact and process the information that faces them once they leave school.
