Programmes New Zealand Certificate in English (NZCEL)
English language Training Scheme.
Start dates NZCEL: 15 February and 18 July
English Language Training: Every week between 15 February and 4 November 2016
Study options Full-time
Fees NZCEL: NZ$ 6,670 per 16 weeks programme, includes textbooks.
English Language Training: NZ$ 380 per week. Does not include textbooks. Textbooks are approximately NZ$ 100
Total number of credits
NZCEL: 60 credits for the 16 week programme
English Language Training: 15 credits
Class times 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday - Friday with some time allocated for self study
Individual study hours
Students will be expected to spend approximately 17 hours per week in addition to class time to complete their study

examinations on campus throughout the year.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAININGFor students who wish to study English but do not require a qualification. Students will be studying alongside NZCEL students. Course content is the same as NZCEL.
IELTS PREPARATION OPTIONIELTS preparation classes are offered as a part time option for those studying the NZCEL Level 3 and Level 4 programmes.
IELTS preparation classes are designed to improve students’ test taking strategies, to familiarise students with the IELTS test format, and to improve their English level prior to taking the test. Out of class study is strongly encouraged, to include practice in tasks one and two of the writing module as well as reading and listening tests which students are able to borrow to use at home.Near their exam date, each student is given a practice speaking test.

ASSESSMENTS
NZCEL
Assessments vary for each course, but include assignments, practical and written assessments, role-plays, verbal presentations. Assessment assistance is available through the EIT Learning Hub for everyone to prepare and perform well.
Some courses include assessment against National Qualifications Framework unit standards.
IELTS EXAM
EIT is a registered British Council Centre offering exams throughout the year. The exam fee is NZ$ 385.00
ENTRY POINTStudents will take an online test before starting the programme to determine English level and entry point.
On arrival, students will have an oral and written assessment to confirm their level of English in order for them to be placed in an appropriate class.
