The 6 Nutrients Your Body NeedsProteins,Fats,

Carbohydrates,Minerals,Vitamins, and Water

My NutrientIron: Iron is benefitial to the body because it is used to transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. It is important to the formation of hemoglobin which makes up red blood cells and carries oxygen throughout the body. Iron can be found in red meat, fish, poultry, beans, and leaf vegetables.

Some foods that have iron in it would be beef, pork, salmon, and tuna. A poor choice of a source of Iron would be tuna or salmon because tuna and salmon contain pollutants such as mercury due to the pollution of the sea which can be harmful to your body. So It would be best to limit the income of Salmon and tuna to at minimum once every other day for your safety.

Are there any alternate sources to obtain iron? There are two types of Iron

supplements. One needs to be perscribed by a doctor for medical reasons such as iron-deficiency anemia, and the other is a dietary supplement which can be found in many common supermarkets.

What are some ways that this nutrient can help your body? - Iron creates hemoglobin which is a

main factor that creates red blood cells.

-Iron gives you energy to sustain yourself throughout the day. Without, you can become weak and drowsy. Lack of iron can also lead to restless leg syndrome.

- Iron is also distributed into your brain tissue, helping your brain function the way its supposed to.

Iron helps your immune system respond to pathogens in your body, keeping you safe from diseases.

What are the dangers or negative side effects of having too little or too much iron? It is important to have just the right

amount of iron because if you don’t, your body wont be the way you want it. One thing that can happen when you don’t consume enough iron, is when you obtain iron-deficiency anemia. This is when the oxygen carried by your blood stream is low due to the lack of iron storage in your blood cells. When you have to much iron intake, you can get iron overload or hemochromatosis. This can cause mutations in your genes and may be a cause for cancer.

What are the toxic levels of iron? Why must we be careful with it?

The more iron you take in, the more dangerous it is. If you have too much iron in your body, the antioxidants cant remove the unneeded surplus of iron which can effect your copper, phospherous, and vitamin E levels.

In Children, death has occurred from ingesting 200mg of iron from iron supplement pills, so always keep pill containers capped.

Why is it important to also exercise and eat right daily? Excercising is a basic fundamental for

everybody, everywhere. Without exercise, your body cannot burn calories and you wont be fit and in shape. It is important to your health to exercise so all of you muscles and organs function the way there supposed to. It is also just as important to exercise just as much as eating right. Whether its an income of iron, or any other substance such as minerals, vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, or water. They are all there to make your world a more healthy place.
