Message from Headteacher – Mrs S. Ahmed I pray that you are all enjoying every moment of this blessed month. May Allah accept our fasts and duas, Ameen. We have had

I would like to congratulate the Year 2 pupils for completing their SATs and personally thank our Year 2 teacher, Ms Saleh and our
teaching assistant Ms Mustafa who have worked very hard in supporting the pupils. Due to their support and hard work, the pupils
have been more confident and at ease sitting the tests and have produced really good results - Alhamdulillah. May Allah reward their
efforts, Ameen.
I am also pleased to tell you that we have had two very successful events this term Alhamdulillah. The first was the Science fair, which
was led by the staff and pupils at our Girls school. The second was the Hifz competition that our pupils took part in. I was amazed by
the confidence and motivation of our pupils and felt proud listening to each reciter recite their surah with such beauty, MashaAllah.
May Allah SWT grant ease in their memorisation, Ameen.

SUN SAFETY
Practising sun safety during childhood and adolescence plays an important role in the prevention of skin cancer. We would like to work with parents in providing the best possible sun protection for your child.
Tips to keep your child safe in the sun (as recommended by www.nhs.uk):
Encourage your child to play in the shade – for example, under trees – especially between 11am and 3pm, when the sun is at its strongest.
Cover exposed parts of your child's skin with sunscreen, even on cloudy or overcast days. Use one that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or above and is effective against UVA and UVB. Don't forget to apply it to areas not protected by clothing, i.e. their shoulders, nose, ears, cheeks, face, back of hands and the tops of their feet. Reapply often throughout the day.
Be especially careful to protect your child's shoulders and the back of their neck when they're playing, as these are the most common areas for sunburn.
Get your child to wear a floppy hat with a wide brim that shades their face and neck.
Protect your child's eyes with sunglasses that meet the British Standard (BSEN 1836:2005) and carry the "CE" mark – check the label.
Take extra care to protect children. Their skin is much more sensitive than adult skin, and damage caused by repeated exposure to sunlight could lead to skin cancer developing in later life.
Sunscreen and hats should be clearly labelled with your child’s name in permanent marker.
AAPS Science Fair
On Tuesday 21st May, the school held its first Science Fair organised by Year 9
students of Azhar Academy Girls School. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all
the children from Year 1 to Year 4. The children had an opportunity to get involved in
various experiments including making chromatography flowers, balloon cars, lava
lamps and slime.
SCHOOL TRIPS
YEAR 1 TRIP TO V&A MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD
This term, Year 1 visited the V&A
Museum of Childhood located in
Bethnal Green. The children thoroughly
enjoyed the hands-on experience of
toys from the past and were able to
compare them to the toys we have now.
They had the opportunity to play many
different games including tiddlywinks,
and with various toys such as action
man and Barbie.
Through exploration of the museum,
the children were able to learn how
toys have evolved from the past to the
present.
NURSERY TRIP TO THE MOSQUE As part of the children’s learning during the blessed month of Ramadhan, the
children visited a local mosque. They had a really good experience of seeing what the
mosque looked like inside. They listened to the adhaan and also saw how salah was
performed. The children enjoyed the tour inside and learnt about the different
features. They also learnt about the etiquettes and aadab of going to a mosque.
