Focus On... ReflexologyReflexology is a gentle, holistic, natural therapy, which uses pressure point massage on precise reflex points on your feet to bring about a state of deep relaxation. This ancient, therapeutic treatment encourages your body’s own unique healing process and helps you achieve balance, well-being and relief from a wide range of conditions such as muscular pain, neck and back ache, digestive disorders, sinus problems, headaches and migraines, depression and low energy levels. Haslewey are fortunate to have two Reflexologists – Lucy Manley-Cooper (07970 197201) and Debbie Bowyer (07863 115984). Lucy practices on Monday and Thursday afternoons in the new treatment room and also offers Indian Head Massage, whilst Debbie has a clinic in the Podiatrist’s therapy room every Friday afternoon, as well as providing treatments in the comfort of your own home if preferred, via her local mobile service.

Debbie has been qualified for over 20 years, studying reflexology, deep tissue massage and anatomy & physiology at St. Mary’s University, Twickenham whilst Lucy trained at The London School of Reflexology under the renowned Louise Keet. Book your appointment now and give your feet a treat!

Food, Fun and FriendshipHaslewey will be holding a Community Friendship Supper on Monday, 21st March between 5-7pm as a joint venture with The Orchard Club and with extra support and assistance from the fantastic team at Tesco. This will be completely free of charge and we are hoping that it will become a monthly event and one that is looked forward to by many members of the local community.

The aim of the Friendship Supper is to reach out to the most vulnerable and isolated groups in the local area and bring them together under one roof to meet other people in similar situations and provide company. They will be provided with a delicious hot meal, served by one of our friendly volunteers with a dessert to follow. If you know of anyone who falls within these categories please do invite them to come along and join us. There’s no need to book – simply turn up, bring a friend, make a friend!

A Right Royal 90th Birthday PartyCelebrations in Haslemere for The Queen’s 90th Birthday will start with a Concert in St. Christopher’s Church on Friday 22nd April at 7.30pm and the music and readings will reflect 90 years of history and honour Britain’s longest serving Monarch.

The Haslemere Festival, will also be marking Her Majesty’s special birthday in style on Saturday, 23rd April 2016 with a grand Carnival Procession from Lion Green to the centre of Haslemere - followed by a Giant Tea Party in the High Street and lots of fun!

The Carnival Procession of floats (including one from Haslewey!), vintage cars and fancy dress walkers, will be divided into sections to represent the nine incredible decades of the Queen’s life and will assemble on Lion Green at 1.00pm – including the St. George’s float (as it’s also St George’s day!), complete with dragon, maiden and St. George! From there, everyone will proceed to the High Street where they will be judged by the Guest of Honour.

If you and your friends or family, charity or business would like to enter the Carnival Procession please contact Don Stacey on 01428 644423, or email him at [email protected]. Tea and scones will be served from five serving stations in Haslemere High Street and there will also be tables for hire for local businesses to promote themselves – contact Hamish Donaldson for details ([email protected]). To round off the afternoon, the Haslemere Town Band will be playing live in the High Street! Happy Birthday Ma’am!

Oh What A Night!A medley of side-splitting humour, fun and laughter from a talented group of professional comedians entertained over 80 visitors and raised £300 for Haslewey at the awesome, adults only Comedy Night on Saturday 6th February. Bar nibbles and a hot snack menu was made available, together with an in- house Bar offering a selection of wines, soft drinks and beers from local breweries.

The amazing compere was local comic, Andy Stedman, the resident MC at Haslewey who cleverly mixed songs and audience banter in readiness for each individual act.

The hysterical Headliner was Colin Cole, one of the biggest names in Australian comedy. Not only is he a jaw-dropping 6’ 7”, but he is also well known amongst Comedy Club circles for his hugely dynamic performance and fast and furious delivery. He is currently taking the UK by storm and will be appearing at The Haslemere Fringe in July!

Colin was ably supported by Tamar Broadbent, a comedian, singer, actor and award-winning songwriter, Matthew Bayliss, with his razor sharp wit and unique brand of middle class comedy, Chris Chopping, a laconic raconteur with killer lines and new act of the evening, Kieran Walshe.

It was a truly comic night of laugh out loud amusement and Haslewey’s next Comedy Night will be Saturday 4th June with the Headliner being Mike Gunn, one of the leading stand ups in Britain! At just £10 per ticket – it’s an affordable night of fun for locals of all ages! Full details of the June line up will be coming soon – save the date!

Build A Buddy Fun!Young children had a truly magical day on 17th February when the Build-a-Buddy team came to play at Haslewey!

Subsidised by the Haslewey Fundraising Committee, the Build-a-Buddy two hour session cost just £5.00 per child, which included a Teddy Bear’s picnic. Each child chose their favourite from a range of Teddy Bear “Buddies” and then hand decorated a special t-shirt and gave their new friend a birth certificate!
