IMAS is a professional accountancy institution, specialising in Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications. It was established in 2013 to broaden access to high-quality professional accountancy education to aspiring Chartered Management Accountants. The National Skills Fund identified accountants and finance managers among the skills that are in shortage in South Africa. IMAS decided to add the highly regarded ACCA qualification to its offering to assist in closing the gap identified by the National Skills Fund. IMAS intends to play a meaningful role in supporting the country to realise its aspiration as encapsulated in the National Development Plan (NDP) of training and developing highly skilled graduates.

IMAS is committed to a high standard of lecturing and student support to assist its students realise their dreams of becoming professional accountants. Through offering globally recognized qualifications, IMAS aims to develop strategic thinkers and business leaders that will have an enormous impact on corporates and communities.

IMAS is accredited by the Finance and Accounting Services Seta, a SETA responsible for the accounting sector in South Africa (FASSET Accreditation Number: A585000052). Our Johannesburg and Sandton Campuses are classified as CIMA Advanced Global Learning Partners, with the rest of our campuses at Global Learning Partner Level. CIMA classes are offered on a full-time basis at our Braamfontein Campus. Part-time classes are offered in Braamfontein on weekends; Sandton on Mid-week; Durban and Pretoria on Weekends; Swaziland on Weekends.

For the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting -

You don’t need any formal qualification to start this level. You will need a good understanding of both English and Maths and a passion to succeed in business. If you are doing Math Literacy, youwill need a minimum of 50% pass rate. If you have any accounting qualification, you might be eligible for exemptions from subjects at this level.

1. Do you have Grade 12 or equivalent? • You will need a minimum of level 3 in both English and Mathematics • If you did Maths Literacy, you would require a minimum of level 4

Students who meet the minimum requirements detailed above will start at the ACCA Knowledge Level. However, • Students who do not meet the minimum requirements can do a ‘Foundation in Accountancy,' a one-year qualification which is part of ACCA that will lead to students receiving credits towards the ACCA Advanced Diploma or Skills Level.

2. Do you have a post Grade 12 quali�cation in accounting, �nance or business related? • If you have completed a diploma, degree or equivalent that has finance content, you could be exempt from some or even a maximum of nine exams from the ACCA Qualification leaving you the Professional level exams to complete and time to focus on gaining your practical experience.
