NuGenesis Dashboards A Web-based utility powered by Solarwinds® System Application Monitor (SAM). It is composed of templates needed to monitor one or more aspects of the application. This feature is organized into three levels: node, application monitor, and components. The Application Monitor templates, which are provided with the software, can be added to a node and used to monitor information such as service status and file capture statistics.

User Management Export list of users for a selected group with subgroup information and the date and time that the user account was created. Export all groups and their privileges.

Annex 11 compliance readiness New View Audit Trail option in WebVISION. When you select the option for one or more records, the software launches the audit trail viewer (ATV) in the Data view and sets the Data GUID to the record GUIDs. This action results in a record set in the audit trail for the selected record in VISION.

Data retention The Data Retention Project property page is updated to allow copying of one data retention policy to another project. For a given retention policy, you can print a report of all reports currently eligible for deletion. You can create a report listing policy names, filter criteria, and rule logic.

Legal hold A new view New “Records not under Legal Hold”, view displays records that are not under legal hold. You can create a report containing all data for a record under legal hold. The report lists record IDs, NGIDs, and data names. The New Legal Hold service searches for candidates to place under legal hold. Filter criteria are now associated with each legal hold enabled for automatic addition. You use the criteria to filter records, selecting those that you will place under legal hold.

NuGenesis LMS SDMS software development kit (SDK)

Windows 8.1 support NuGenesis LMS client applications are supported on the Windows 8.1 operating system. Examples: NuGenesis LMS SDMS Administrator, UNIFY, NuGenesis LMS client, NuGenesis LMS Smart Builder, and so on.

Unify XPS support Unify printer can now display UNIFI reports.

Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Russian language support

NuGenesis LMS is now supported for Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Russian operating systems and data.

Offline storage manager When you create a new device, the volume prefix is no longer visible or required, and the software does not check the volume prefix field when adding the new device. When you create the device, the software automatically creates a volume called “N/A Volume not needed”, which appears on the Volume Management tab in the Service Configuration Console (SCC). You can no longer create new volumes, nor can you close them. Each device now only has one volume, called “N/A Volume not needed”. Devices that existed before this release maintain their old volume name (which appear in the Volume Management tab of SCC), but the volume cannot be closed nor a new one opened.

Paradigm™ Scientific Search Software integration Enhanced search software for Waters Informatics platforms, which can be further licensed to index other sources. You can launch Paradigm software from SDMS, to search by text, key word, document, digital image, chemical structure, analytical dataset, and biological content. If NuGenesis and Empower software are connected to Paradigm software, you use Paradigm software to search both product databases.

17282 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) using archive on demand (AOD) displayed incorrect dates. If you imported a data set using a Waters instrument agent with the generic data adapter with AOD, the AOD creation and modify dates were displayed in the tags. This issue is fixed.

17361 Could not use dynamic paths for Preview’s temp folder. Preview now uses environment variables for its TempFolder registry key.

17588 XML reserved characters were not masked in the AOD file. This issue is fixed.

17714 Launch menu not displayed in VISION. This issue is fixed.

17789 Error when you built a derived constant value in an extraction template with empty “Constant” field. This issue is fixed.

17802 Installer did not clear the C:\temp\ngsrtmp file after completing the installation. This is fixed. Now, when the installer starts, it deletes the contents of the ngsrtmp file.

17806 Debug logging always enabled for UNIFY. This issue is fixed.

17807 Programs not run with Administrator privileges if installed by user logged in as an Administrator. The NuGenesis LMS (NuGenesis 8 Feature Release 1) Installation and Configuration Guide includes the following information: For proper installation of the NuGenesis 8 FR1 client software, you must invoke the setup program with the "Run as Administrator" right enabled. Logging in with local administrator rights is recommended; however, local administrator rights are not sufficient for proper installation. When invoking the installation setup program, select "Run as Administrator" from the file menu.

17815 Online help did not describe feature to add another SDMS System Activities project if the original project contained a large number of records. The NuGenesis LMS SDMS online Help includes a new topic named “Creating a system activities project” that describes this feature.

17817 Blank file capture template password when reopened or saved template. This issue is fixed.

17836 Blank pages for Agilent MSD ChemStation reports in Preview. This issue is fixed.

17837 Tag label list returned order defined in the DefaultView, even when you set a different project or view. This issue is fixed.

17856 Templates using derived or constant values that were NULL or blank were corrupted when migrated to later version of NuGenesis. This issue is fixed.

17860 NuGenesis 8 SR 1 installed on a Citrix server would not allow multiple users print to UNIFY. This issue is fixed.

17862 Could not edit print capture template if it included a tag labeled “Name”. This issue is fixed.

17870 Database identification was truncated to maximum values for 32-bit signed integer. This issue is fixed.

17931 Only Administrator users were able to use the PDF extraction templates. This issue is fixed.

17959 SDMS did not support roaming profiles. If the default local path was entered in the home folder of the profile on the domain server, the application would fail. Basic support for SDMS and roaming profiles requires that each machine, where SDMS is installed, must be installed in the same way (same install path, temp folder, and so on). In this manner a user with a profile shared across systems, will have correct information for each system.

17975 Update documentation for UNIFY installation on Citrix. The NuGenesis LMS (NuGenesis 8 Feature Release 1) Installation and Configuration Guide includes updated instructions in the “Installing NuGenesis UNIFY on a Citrix server (interactive installation)” section.

18019 If you copied or moved data from a file data project into another project that is managed store enabled, the NGD files that were created on the managed store location are incomplete. They did not contain the information necessary for the Managed Store Synch utility to recreate database records. This issue is fixed.

18035 SDMS Administrator crashed when the Oracle session hot fix was applied. This issue is fixed.

18038 Cannot add UNIFYps queues to 32-bit clients. This issue is fixed.

18044 SDMS login service did not work with Report splitter service. This issue is fixed.

18050 Archive agent did not archive files after recovering from a crash. This issue is fixed.

18276 Offline storage manager (OSM) could not set the volume label unless the volume label was on the local drive with the network share. This issue is fixed. Now, files captured on previous releases of NuGenesis and on NuGenesis LMS can be restored on OSM devices that previously required a volume label. Files captured on NuGenesis LMS can be restored on OSM devices created in NuGenesis LMS software. When creating a new device, the volume prefix field is no longer visible, and does not need to be filled. This field is no longer checked, when adding the device. When a new device is created, a volume is automatically created called “N/A Volume not needed”. This is displayed on the volume management tab in SCC. New volumes can no longer be created nor can they be closed. Each device will now only have one volume called “N/A Volume not needed”. OSM will no longer try to set the volume label, nor will it check and compare it while moving data to offline storage. Devices that existed before NuGenesis LMS maintain their old volume name, which will is displayed in the volume management tab of SCC, but the volume cannot be closed nor can a new name be opened. This volume name is not checked or compared at any point in the process. On the restore side, the volume label is no longer acquired nor is it checked and compared against the device volume label.

18296 In VISION, searching with a wildcard character returned results that did not match the string. This issue is fixed.

18297 Could not extract table with more than 100 rows in XML format. This issue is fixed.

When printing a report layout that has 2 layers in which the top layer has transparency set, to a Postscript printer (for example HP 4200N printer pscript5.dll v5.02), then a black box is printed out instead of the actual reports. Recommendation: If you encounter this issue printing to a Postscript printer, first make sure that you have the latest driver for the printer. If you continue to encounter the issue, print to a non-Postscript printer instead.

16560 When attempting print to UNIFY through a published application on the Citrix Server, with "Show Tag Dialog After Processing" selected, the dialog box appears on the Citrix Server. The result is that the print hangs in the queue unless someone completes the process on the server. Recommendation: The “Show Tag Dialog after processing” functionality is not supported on Citrix.

16594 Missing property descriptions for NGTagInfo class in Java Toolkit help file. The NGTagInfo class property descriptions are:

17175 Windows Vista/Windows 7 Virtual Store function causes communication failure The Virtual Store feature in Windows Vista and Windows 7 software stops programs from communicating with the Program Files directory, Windows directory, and the HKey Local machine location in the registry. When a program attempts to write data to these directories, Windows Vista and Windows 7 software create a copy of the directories under the computer user’s profile and store the data there instead. This process can cause the following issues:

• When you back up data, you sometimes back up databases and files that do not contain the data that your NuGenesis SDMS program uses. The data that your program uses is sometimes in an alternate location created by Windows Vista and Windows 7 software.

• If the NuGenesis SDMS program has more than one user, you are sometimes unable to view the data that other users generate, and other users are sometimes unable to view the data that you generate.

• If you remove the NuGenesis SDMS program that you used to generate the data, Windows Vista and Windows 7 software do not delete the data stored in the virtual location. You must delete the data manually. If you do not, when you reinstall the program, the program can continue to use old data stored in the virtual location.

Workaround: Disable the default Virtual Store setting in one of the following ways:

Note that the absence of a keyword from “Word Match” will only cause a note in the Extraction Template Output. It will not prevent the system from executing the template on the report.

17389 TCP-IPv6 causes a socket error when the SDK is in Web mode When launching a JCAMP file in InSpector from VISION, you receive the following error message: "WAUtils - Cannot connect socket". Socket error occurs when the SDK attempts to communicate with the Web server. Workaround: Disable IPv6 in the network settings AND create and set a registry key to disable the remaining IPv6 functionality. You can disable IPv6 through the DisabledComponents registry value and through the check box for the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) component in the list of items on the Networking tab for the properties of connections in the Network Connections folder. To disable certain IPv6 components, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list.

2. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue. 3. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

4. Double-click DisabledComponents to modify the DisabledComponents entry.

• Type 0xffffffff to disable all IPv6 components, except the IPv6 loopback interface. This value also configures Windows to prefer using Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) over IPv6 by modifying entries in the prefix policy table. For more information, see Source and Destination Address Selection.

• Type 0x20 to prefer IPv4 over IPv6 by modifying entries in the prefix policy table.

• Type 0x10 to disable IPv6 on all nontunnel interfaces (on both LAN and Point-to-Point Protocol [PPP] interfaces).

• Type 0x01 to disable IPv6 on all tunnel interfaces. These include Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol (ISATAP), 6to4, and Teredo.

• Type 0x11 to disable all IPv6 interfaces except for the IPv6 loopback interface.

In the Local Area Connection Properties, clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) checkbox and click OK.

17503 Cannot archive data from a Unix share via Samba. Samba is only supported in share mode.

17685 Incorrect paths in Auto IQ Reports. When installing SDMS or ELN components on Windows 64-bit machines, some files will not be written into the SysWOW64 folder instead of into system32. The IQ test looks for these files at the correct location, but the report will incorrectly state the 32-bit path. The file is NOT located in \Windows\system32, but in \Windows\SysWOW64. This applies to all files that have been relocated into the SysWOW64 folder.

17752 Sending multiple tables (in Table mode) to Microsoft Excel fails. When you send multiple tables to Excel, the software locates the first table, analyzes the content, and extracts the text. The software completes the operation, and does not try to locate another table. Workaround: Include only one table per send operation.

17793 “Send traceable data” operations fail for Microsoft Office 64-bit Word documents. If you send document sections to an open (64-bit edition of Office) Word document with “Send traceable data” selected, the document sections are sent to the Word document, but the traceable link is not displayed. Workaround: Only use the “Send traceable data” option when sending document sections to a (32-bit edition of Office) Word document.

18063 Data Manager permanently deletes system files without warning message. If you archive a system file, and then start the Data Manager, the Data Manager will delete the file without providing a warning message. The Archive Agent and Data Manager should be used with caution, and you should not use the Data Manager on any critical or system files.

18154 When you open WebVISION in Internet Explorer with high-contrast themes applied, records under legal hold are not displayed in purple font. Workaround: Do not apply high-contrast themes to Internet Explorer. High-contrast theme settings prevent Internet Explorer from displaying colored font.

18283 Russian characters not correctly displayed in email subject line. When the software sends an alert email for a project with Russian characters in the project name, the Russian characters do not display correctly in the email subject line.

18354 Project name that includes a semicolon (;) remains in exception list of Empower 2 template. If a project name includes a semicolon (;) in its name, related projects appear in the template exception list. Workaround: Do not use semicolons in project names.

18373 Calculations in Activity log are incorrect. During a conversion-enabled archive operation, Archive Agent (AA) incorrectly computes the number of archived files. AA adds the conversion-related files (.xml and .dx) to the archived files. However, the XMLMap.xml file is deleted in the final AA stage and is not archived, which accounts for the file count discrepancy. Also, during the archiving of multiple sets of data in one template (or in a template line), the AA log displays a summary for each data set so that for each set, the number of scanned files is set to the number of files in the entire data folder (including subdirectories). The summary per template will display a sum of the values in each dataset.

18416 Software cannot create the temporary OSM_WSG folder. If a Temp subfolder does not exist under the NuGenesis 8.0 folder, the software cannot create the OSM_WSG folder, and terminates the process. Workaround: Make sure there is a Temp subfolder under the NuGenesis 8.0 folder, before you start the OSM to WSG process.

18433 You cannot install a second instance of NuGenesis Stability. When you try to install a second instance of NuGenesis Stability software, you receive a message that “SLIM” already exists on the computer, and to specify another name. After you click OK, the installer does not provide a dialog box to specify a name for the second instance. Workaround: Contact Waters Technical Support for details.

18441 Russian characters are not supported for LDAP passwords. This relates to Russian characters for the username only. Russian LDAP support is for non-SSL only; SSL is not being supported.

18478 AutoIQ fails for transfer application on a Citrix server. After you apply the NuGenesis LMS update, AutoIQ fails for the transfer application on a Citrix server. Workaround: The server must be in Install mode before installing the applications. It must also be in Install mode when you run AutoIQ on a Citrix server to verify the installation. On the command line, a user with administrator privileges issues CHANGEUSER/INSTALL.

18484 In WebVISION, a literal search that uses either the percent (%) character or the question mark (?) character, produces separate search results for each character. A search for “Fruit%”string.” for example, results in two reports: “Fruit%” and “Fruit?”.

18504 Printing a project, with a name with more than 11 multi-byte Korean characters, using Unify fails. Workaround: Use file names that are 23 or fewer characters.

18505 Error displayed when you try to preview records from the SDMS Project Browser on Citrix. If you log in to NuGenesis LMS as a user who also has SDMS administrator privileges, open the SDMS Project Browser, and try to preview a record from a print project, you receive this message: “The requested data cannot be found. The data may have been deleted from the database.” Workaround: Provide the logged-in operating system user read and write access to the NuGenesis LMS installation folder (on C:\Program Files (x86)\Waters).

18510 ngsdms8cleanupschema.sql script is incomplete. The ngsdms8cleanupschema.sql script does not delete all of the specified files. Workaround: Contact Waters Technical Support for updated versions of the scripts.

18513 SDMS applications cannot be accessed if you provide the IP address for the database when installing the Oracle client. If you specify the IP address for the database when installing the Oracle client, you will not be able to access the SDMS applications. Workaround: During the Oracle client installation, enter the database name instead of its IP address.

18515 New behavior when creating a device missing from online help files. The help files need to be updated to describe the following behavior: When creating a new device, the volume prefix field is no longer visible, no longer needs to be filled, and no longer checked when adding the device. Now, a volume is automatically created called “N/A Volume not needed”, and appears on the volume management tab in SCC. You can no longer create new volumes, nor can you close them. Each device now has only one volume called “N/A Volume not needed”. OSM no longer tries to set the volume label, nor does it check and compare it while moving data. Devices that existed prior to this release of NuGenesis LMS, maintain their old volume name, which appears in the volume management tab of SCC. However,

Workaround: In the LMS client, create a NuGenesis Stability Administrator user (slim_admin userID) by using the password “slimadmin” and a name (for example Stability Administrator). Add this Administrator user to a permission group in which NuGenesis Stability is available. Then, log in to LMS as this Administrator user and access Study Manager from the menu. NuGenesis Stability opens directly with the Administrator user, which is predefined with administrator rights. This user is able to set any user rights needed for other users.
