Introductory Statement to Board of Governors

by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano

1 March 2010 Vienna, Austria

We have already re-focussed our activities to help meet the needs of

newcomers to nuclear power. I firmly believe that access to nuclear

power should not be limited to developed countries. It should also be

available to interested developing countries to help them lift their

people out of poverty. Naturally, it is the sovereign right of every

Member State to decide whether or not to introduce nuclear power.

The Agency will provide as much assistance as possible to countries

which take this option. My goal is that Member States embarking on

the path towards introducing nuclear power should start to see

tangible progress in the years to come as a result of the Agency´s

efforts.

ENEN: NUSHARE Project (2013-2017)

PROJECT FOR SHARING & GROWING NUCLEAR SAFETY COMPETENCE

NUSHARE (Grant Agreement no 335530 – signed on 17 December 2012)

The NUSHARE project originated as a Euratom E&T initiative after the Great East

Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011.

The objective of NUSHARE is to develop and implement training and informing

activities in order to share and grow, across the EU, the safety culture in nuclear

installations. Security aspects (in particular, proliferation resistance and physical

protection) will also be treated.

Three groups of citizens :

(TG1) Policy and decision makers

(TG2) Nuclear Regulatory Authorities and TSO

Staff members of those organizations

(TG3) Industry

Managers and operators in the nuclear industry,

systems suppliers (vendors, engineering companies, etc) and

energy providers (electric utilities, etc).
