Because I live in a rural area, I chose to

modify this assignment. We have very few stores in our town so I tried to think of other ways to make observations

My purpose: As an indicator of brand recognition and observation, I took several Sporcle quizzes (www.sporcle.com) which showed corporate logos and asked the user to type in the corresponding company

Purpose

Page 3: Now what company is that

Overall, I did poorly. Although I

recognized many of the logos, I couldn’t place which company they were affiliated with. Some logos were understandably not recognized but many that I think I should have recognized I did not get right.

Summary

Spoiler Alert: If you are interested

in taking these Sporcle quizzes, click on the link below each quiz BEFORE going on to the next slide, since I show the quiz answers! They are pretty blurry, but you can make them out if you try.

Corporate Logos Quiz AnswersHow many of these did you get right?

How many did you recognize but couldn’t come up with the right answer?

Okay, so maybe these are just logos

that I didn’t recognize very well

I went ahead and took the Corporate Logos 2 quiz, thinking maybe I would do better

Fluke?

Corporate Logos 2 AnswersOkay, it isn’t a fluke. I just don’t do a very good job of observing.

Interestingly, you can get all sorts of data from

the website about these quizzes, including:

Number of times the quiz was taken Which questions were answered correctly by

the most people, and which were answered incorrectly the most

How many times today the quiz was taken

So What?

Page 11: Now what company is that

Notice that Xerox only has 10.4% recognition – this surprised me since Xerox has been around while. If I was in marketing for Xerox I would be concerned about this. Warner Brothers is doing something right.

Corporations could use this information to see

how well their logo is recognized. Brand recognition means big money, so they are interested.

Although this is by nature a skewed demographic market, if people who take these quizzes make up part of your target market then the information available could certainly be useful for marketing.

Useful Information?
